No, Florida survives by providing refuge for recent retirees. (0.00 / 0)

When the elderly become dependent, there are no social services.  So, they move back to where they came from.
Last year was the first when more people left Florida than moved in.

... back to 16. That was good enough in 1920, so it's good enough today.

At least there is one bright spot- a bill that requires kids to have at least 45 minutes of physical education per day. That'll get them prepared for good, honest occupations for the 21st century like trapping, log splitting, maple sugar harvesting, hunting and fishing guide, and lumberjacking.

HB542 an act that does assorted bad or dumb things.

You know, to impose discipline.  Providing a liberal education isn't just expensive, but counter-productive.
Conservatives believe in extraction, including obedience.  Sharing nature's bounty and man's assets is not part of their agenda.  Indeed, natural resources are to be extracted, not preserved, and certainly not to be protected.

The ideology is entirely consistent.  They've evolved predation to practice it at a distance.

for teachers' salaries.  Fund-raisers (selling tulip bulbs and chocolate and etc.) for books.  How much can we buy?  Wouldn't that end up being just as expensive as paying taxes, though?

Gov. Lynch Opposes Attempt to Repeal Public Kindergarten

CONCORD - Gov. John Lynch today made clear his opposition to legislation aimed at once again making New Hampshire the only state in the nation that does not provide access to public kindergarten to every child.

The House Education Committee today heard testimony on House Bill 631, relative to repealing the requirement that all school districts offer public kindergarten. The legislation further exempts some school districts, which opt not to move forward with plans to implement kindergarten, from repayment of state funds they received for the purpose of adding kindergarten.

"The independent research is clear about the importance of kindergarten to the education of our children and the contribution it makes to ensuring later academic success," Gov. Lynch wrote to the committee. "By ensuring all of our children have the opportunity to attend kindergarten, we are laying the foundation for success, and providing an equal opportunity for all students to begin their education on sure footing."

Gov. Lynch in 2007 signed into law the definition of an adequate education, which made it clear that all children should have the opportunity to attend public kindergarten. Up until passage of that law, New Hampshire was the only state in the country that did not provide every child the opportunity to attend public kindergarten.

"I believe that education is the opportunity we provide all our children to have better lives and better futures. This opportunity should begin with kindergarten," Gov. Lynch wrote. "I urge you to continue to support access to public kindergarten for all New Hampshire children."
