Just wanted to observe that with the arrival of the 60th Democrat in the Senate, a vote on a health care plan that includes a public option only stalls if a Democrat affirmatively agrees to filibuster it.
That's exactly right. Kay and Kent and Dianne can preen an pout all they want and go nay on the actual vote, but I have a really hard time imagining them actively filibustering their own party.
So provided we can get Byrd (who was just released from hospital) and Kennedy in the same room with the other 58 for cloture, we just might have a chance to wake up from the long national nightmare of the health care catastrophe.
It's almost too good to be true, which is why I automatically assume it won't happen.
