I want to draw on Ted Kennedy; vicariously through his friend, Harvard classmate and football teammate, and former Senate colleague Sen. John Culver (D-IA), for inspiration.
Health care reform is no laughing matter, but if you have not seen this, be prepared to laugh, as Culver recalls a weekend spent sailing with Ted Kennedy.
Part I:
I support a strong public option. For similar reasons as discussed by Dean here, and elwood here.
In a comment to a troll, I made it clear that I had recently joined the Democratic Party because I saw the opportunity to accomplish many positive things for America under an Obama administration. Sides had to be chosen to push for change, so I chose Democrat.
I did it because I saw a party that was shrugging of(f) the status quo. I'm not talking far left Kucinichy junk, I'm talking straight forward working class reforms.
For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die.
Our will to win is strengthened by an unwavering commitment to what we know to be right - HEALTH CARE IS A HUMAN RIGHT.
Where there is political will; empowered by a mandate from the voters, undeterred by the lies and the fear mongering, there is a way. As we set our minds on a course of action, let's consider:
"Because your own strength is unequal to the task, do not assume that it is beyond the powers of man; but if anything is within the powers and province of man, believe that it is within your own compass also."
- Marcus Aurelius
Or as Ted Kennedy so often said, "There's nothing to it."
