Ayotte said she would oppose a government, or public, option in any health insurance reform plan because it would lead to "turning over the health care system to the government, and I don't think that is the answer to better quality health care or lowering the cost curve. I don't think we should end up in a situation where there is a government bureaucrat in Washington between us and our doctors."
And darn those Medicare government bureaucrats getting in between our seniors and their health care!
When you think about it, the GOP position on health care is so untenable and unpopular it almost makes you feel bad for their position. Until, of course, you remember how the Village and White House bend over backwards to include the Party of No in every discussion.
p.s. This would be a good time for Paul Hodes to express unequivocal support for the public option.
Public Option Dean, Thanks for your comments on this critical issue. I strongly support a public option as an important part of reform of the health care system. It will help insure every American and increase competition in the health care marketplace, reducing cost for New Hampshire families. I will continue to advocate for it as the legislation moves through the process.
