New Hampshire Voters Will Decide This Election

by: Dean Barker

(UPDATE: Haha - Grant Bosse alerts me that this is a story from October (this, despite the UL's 11/23 date on it).  It really is true that I can't keep these DC fundraisers straight!)

I'm starting to lose track of all of these GOP/NRSC/DC grassroots fundraisers:

The National Republican Senatorial Committee hosted a $500-a-person reception last night at its headquarters near the Capitol with special guests Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Texas Sen. John Cornyn, chairman of the committee.

...In addition to the committee reception, there were two other fundraisers scheduled in Washington on the same day. One was a fund-raising lunch at Charlie Palmer Steak near Capitol Hill and the other was hosted by Washington-based lobbyist Rick Murphy, a former staffer in Sen. Gregg's office.

But this is by far the funniest part - caught!
As she left the reception, Ayotte said, "I've been talking to a lot of people throughout New Hampshire and working hard for the campaign, and I think obviously New Hampshire voters will decide this election."
It's clear she's worried about the (correct) perception that her candidacy is a wholly owned subsidiary of Washington DC.

But let's get real. Judd Gregg, Big John, Mitch and the rest of the DC boys wouldn't ever really let New Hampshire Republicans decide on their candidate, would they?

They don't have a choice, do they--unless the vote (0.00 / 0)
count is going to be rigged?

You know, there was a time when voters were eager to sell their votes for five or ten bucks, but even then (in the south of the 1980s) it was unlikely that the people selling their vote would remember who the buyer was or what the inside of a voting booth looked like.

The only hope Republicans have is that Democrats and Independents will find a new infatuation and stay home.
