Here are the voices of two sitting Senators and one sitting Congressman with year-long in-state campaign presences and delegates that you may not be hearing at the debate this Saturday, just a few days before our primary. Why? Because someone in Iowa has made that decision for you, according to the debate rules. And once again, NHDP Chair Ray Buckley's reaction to this perversity:
"New Hampshire has a long and proud tradition of serving as a level playing field and is the one state where each candidate can be given an equal opportunity to be heard by the voters. I would strongly encourage any NH media outlet holding candidate debates or forums not to eliminate a sitting US Senator or member of Congress"
Disclosure: I'm a Dodd supporter unaffiliated with the campaign.
And adding... This is really unfair to these candidates, in that the last thing they need to do while campaigning their hearts out in Iowa is to call media attention to the fact that they may not be able to debate in NH. Just talking about it puts them at a disadvantage. So the onus should be on the other four to, at the very least, make a statement. And elwood agrees, so I must be on the right track.
Update: One of the sponsors of this debate is Facebook. Well, then, why not join the Facebook group Mike Hoefer just created, Let Them Debate?
