Presidential Write in Votes Are Available

by: Kathy Sullivan 2

Fri Jan 11, 2008 at 15:13:37 PM EST

(Awesome, and as I had hoped. - promoted by Dean Barker)

Kelly did a post about write ins, which got me to check out the SoS web site.

Here are the Republican write ins for Democratic candidates for president:
Obama: 1,800
Clinton: 1,743
Edwards: 696
Ruchardson: 191
Kucinich: 13

On the Democratic side:
McCain: 932
Romney: 611
Paul: 267
Huckabee: 242
Giuliani: 161

Kathy Sullivan 2 :: Presidential Write in Votes Are Available
4,443 Republicans did not vote for a Republican, but instead wrote in one of the five Democrats then running!

I would be remiss as a Clinton person if I did not point out that both Senators Clinton and  Obama showed an about equal ability to attract Republican votes.

The write ins for v.p. are not up yet.

So, there you go!

Well I am (0.00 / 0)
Not surprised so many republicans wrote in a Democrat, they were supposed to be able to change party registration a week before the Primary, but Gardner had it done in October and not many people knew about it.

State law (4.00 / 4)
RSA 654-32.

Gardner gets blamed for lots of stuff that is really the General Court's doing.

I Want Names! (0.00 / 0)
Of the Dems who wrote in Repubs.  What were they thinking?  I don't know whether to offer them therapy or a good old fashioned ass whuppin!

Justica para todos.  Justice for all.  Pass it on.

I want to know why more people voted for fringe candidates than Biden and Dodd (4.00 / 1)
Even though they dropped out.

Yes!! (0.00 / 0)
I want to know which ones voted for Ron Paul!  But it is a secret ballot!

VP Wite In: (4.00 / 1)
I wrote in John Edwards.

I'm guessing a lot of these (4.00 / 1)
are undeclareds who didn't re-register as such back in 2006 or 2004, but still, looking at the disparity between Ds and Rs, I'll take it.

Wonderful news.

Write Ins (4.00 / 2)
Unfortunately the SOS website lists my vote for Jimmy Carter for president as "scatter".

I am wondering how many joined me in writing in Al Gore for vice president? Anyone know?

Have you written a letter to the editor today? Have you donated today? Have you put up signs? Have you made calls? Have you talked to your neighbors?

There was one in my ward. (0.00 / 0)
I don't think two, I could be wrong.

Predictions (0.00 / 0)
I know it's probably not a good idea to do this, in light of what just happened, but I think it's going to come down to wire between Al Gore and Stephen Colbert.

I voted Al/VP
someone in Bow voted for me for VP
I am on way to Stassenville

Rumor has it that I picked up one vote for v.p. in Ward 4. I'm very excited.

Well, Ray, I don't know how many people joined you on writing in Gore for VP, but I thought it was a good idea, and I did it. (4.00 / 1)

Why are we voting for a VP ? (0.00 / 0)
I thought we confirmed the presidential nominee's pick at convention. If Bugs Bunny wins on a write-in vote is he our VP nominee ? I would prefer him to William Bryk, who sounds solid, but is completely unknown to me.

[ Parent ]
It is a statement (4.00 / 1)
In 2004, John Edwards received several thousand write ins for vice president.  I'm not saying that had any influence on why he was chosen, but it did show he was a second choice of a lot of people. If you have a vote, why not use it?  I wrote in Chris Dodd, for example.

Energy and persistence conquer all things.

O.K., but the rules of the game should be made clearer. (0.00 / 0)
It seems few know how to play. I had two confused voters ask me about it. My Election Moderator couldn't explain it. All she said is that it had something to do with the Parties and gave her a lot of extra tallying.

Had I known there was potential impact, I would have shown Joe Biden some respect.

Thanks for the info.

Might be a better idea ... (0.00 / 0)
To print all the Presidential candidates and let voters write in "William Bryk". Makes the intent clearer and easier to tally. A few words explaining that this side of the ballot is for purely expressing preference and not part of the official nominating process would help differentiate it from the Presidential half of the ballot.

I need to express (4.00 / 4)
my disappointment that Vermin Supreme did so poorly. Vermin's platform of mandatory toothbrushing (take that, Maine!), full funding for time travel research, and zombie preparedness (is the USA ready for a full scale zombie atttack? I think not) were just what this country needs to move us forward in a positive direction.

Vermin would have easily been the most fashionably dressed president, ever. The sparkly silver underpants over his trousers would have enlivened many a dull state dinner.

Vermin! Vermin! Vermin!

What a wasteful spender! (4.00 / 1)
If we've got time travel, zombies are no threat.

[ Parent ]
elwood, dude (4.00 / 2)
Before we perfect time travel, we have to be prepared for the zombies-d'oh!

And they say we're a racist state! (4.00 / 3)
Do any of the other more "representational" states have a rodent on the ballot?  I think not!

Vermin! Vermin! Vermin!

Justica para todos.  Justice for all.  Pass it on.

The heartwarming story: (4.00 / 1)
Vermin Supreme is actually the very same rat that Ned Coll waved in the 1972 debates, now full grown.

Ned's for Jesus now (4.00 / 1)
just read up on him...he still carries the progressive torch but is as apt to talk about his faith as his social values agenda these days.

Gore (4.00 / 1)
I wrote him in for VP

Richardson-Gore! (0.00 / 0)
I did the same.
