In the first quarter of 2008, Jeanne Shaheen for Senate:
*raised nearly $1.2 million
*has a cash-on-hand total of nearly $2 million
*received donations from nearly 6,500 individual donors
*received 84% of donations from small-dollar donors who can continue to contribute to the campaign over the coming months. The average individual contribution was $150.
To date, the campaign has raised nearly $2.6 million from almost 9,000 donors.
During the last week of the first quarter of 2008, the campaign challenged supporters to donate $45,000 from 4,500 donors in response to the $4,500 that John Sununu has received from ExxonMobil this year. The campaign easily surpassed that goal, raising over $60,000 after the email went out, totaling nearly 6,500 donors for the quarter and demonstrating that the voices of people who want real change in Washington are louder than those of the wealthy special interests.
I'm particularly happy that 84% of the donations come from small donors. Governor Shaheen, who got her start in grass roots politics, is very dedicated to making sure that this campaign is grass roots driven, and it looks like the grass roots is responding with both volunteer help and financial help!
