Jeanne Shaheen and 4000 new donors!

by: Kathy Sullivan 2

Thu Apr 10, 2008 at 12:05:54 PM EDT

(Great news regarding the Shaheen Campaign. There are miles to go before we sleep, but this is a great step towards our first Democratic Senator since 1980. - promoted by Mike Hoefer)

Jeanne Shaheen's senate campaign continues to pick up a lot of support. The campaign has announced that in this last quarter, it had nearly 4,000 first time donors to the campaign! The campaign has raised nearly $1.2 million in the first quarter of 2008.

"I am humbled by the overwhelming amount of support that we've seen from people who are looking for real change in Washington," Shaheen said.  "The vast majority of donations to our campaign this quarter came from individuals giving small dollar amounts to show their desire to take our country in a new direction.  I am particularly proud that this quarter we were able to bring nearly 4,000 new people into our campaign for change."

Kathy Sullivan 2 :: Jeanne Shaheen and 4000 new donors!
In the first quarter of 2008, Jeanne Shaheen for Senate:

*raised nearly $1.2 million

*has a cash-on-hand total of nearly $2 million

*received donations from nearly 6,500 individual donors

*received 84% of donations from small-dollar donors who can continue to contribute to the campaign over the coming months.  The average individual contribution was $150.

To date, the campaign has raised nearly $2.6 million from almost 9,000 donors.

During the last week of the first quarter of 2008, the campaign challenged supporters to donate $45,000 from 4,500 donors in response to the $4,500 that John Sununu has received from ExxonMobil this year.  The campaign easily surpassed that goal, raising over $60,000 after the email went out, totaling nearly 6,500 donors for the quarter and demonstrating that the voices of people who want real change in Washington are louder than those of the wealthy special interests.

I'm particularly happy that 84% of the donations come from small donors.  Governor Shaheen, who got her start in grass roots politics, is very dedicated to making sure that this campaign is grass roots driven, and it looks like the grass roots is responding with both volunteer help and financial help!

Plus, when asked to support Sununu, they say Su-no-no-no!

Congratulations. (4.00 / 2)
This is great news for all of us who yearn for a progressive voice representing our values in the US Senate...it has been a long twenty eight years.

Democrats solve problems, Republicans sit and say no.

And when Ray says "our" values, I believe he means New Hampshire, not just progressives. (0.00 / 0)
Sununu and Gregg are out of touch with our state and its people, on both sides of the aisle, and Sununu will pay for it when his electoral base flocks this fall to a candidate who wants to represent our state, not her political benefactors.

Wow, that takes me back. (0.00 / 0)
Almost impossible to believe that such a thing existed, I once had a Welcome Back Kotter action figure set, replete with real chalkboard and an extra long scarf for Horshack.

Welcome back, Ray.

Yeah, I wonder if that show is to blame (0.00 / 0)
for my lot in life.

Lord knows I tell try to tell the same type of corny jokes as Kotter did, with the same predictably poor results.

Not as funny a video - but a measure of what's to come.
