Us vs Exxon and Halliburton Fundraising Campaign

by: Jonathan Schleifer

Wed Jun 04, 2008 at 13:33:48 PM EDT

Today we launched our end of the quarter fundraising campaign - Us vs. Exxon and Halliburton.

Since past email messages have made for lively discussion on BH and because we are very excited about the potential of this grassroots fundraising campaign,  I thought I would share the text from Bill Hyer's email:

Subject: Exxon and Halliburton vs Jonathan

Dear Jonathan --

In politics, as in life, the people who support us say a lot about who we are and what we stand for.

We are proud of what our supporters say about Jeanne Shaheen and our campaign.  Last quarter 6,500 individual contributors supported Jeanne's campaign and 4,000 were first time contributors.   These individuals stood with Jeanne because they know she will tackle the challenges facing middle class Americans and bring change to business as usual in Washington DC.

John Sununu's donors tell a different story. He has taken more than $220,000 in campaign gifts from big oil and gas companies.  In that time, average gas prices in New England have tripled - now at $4/gallon.  And in that time, big oil companies' profits have skyrocketed.

John Sununu is counting on big oil in this campaign - we are counting on you.   Individually we may not be able to compete with special interest checkbooks, but together we can.
Sununu took more than $220,000 from big oil.  We are asking you to contribute $22.  Together we can compete with Sununu and his big oil buddies. Click to contribute $22 today.

This fundraising quarter ends June 30th, so we have little time to make this happen. We need you to contribute today and ask your friends and family to do the same. Please forward this email to them or even better, start a personal fundraising page and use our easy outreach tools.  Click to start your fundraising page.

If you get just 10 friends to give just $22 each you will have contributed $242 to Jeanne's campaign to pay for radio ads and  lawn signs. If your ten friends do the same and get 10 friends to contribute - our campaign will have $2,442 to spend on setting up local offices and airing television ads. Click to start your fundraising page.

Together we can balance big oil's influence and send Jeanne Shaheen to the US Senate.
