Rep. Henry Waxman Coming to Red River Theatre, Concord, NH

by: Alexander Lee

Thu Jul 03, 2008 at 15:10:55 PM EDT

(Bumped. - promoted by Dean Barker)

Who has been in Congress, for California's 30th Congressional District, which includes Hollywood and Santa Monica, since the year that I was born? (Hint: 1974.)
Alexander Lee :: Rep. Henry Waxman Coming to Red River Theatre, Concord, NH
That is right, the head of the Government Oversight and Reform Committee, on which Congressman Paul Hodes sits, will be joining Hodes to do a fundraiser for the reform-oriented Merrimack County Democrats. That man, known for his incisive questions and excellent work when he was merely the ranking minority member of that committee, is Henry Waxman.

When can you meet him? Next Saturday, July 12, at 4 PM, at the Red River Theatres, S. Main St., Concord.

What does it cost? Many people encouraged us to set a higher price, but $15 will allow even those who are feeling tapped out by all these incumbent Democrats running in our state (!) to see somebody who is a great American hero.

If you care about impeachment, the environment, waste, fraud, and abuse, Waxman and Hodes will let you know what is happening inside the Beltway and how they plan to change it. Got questions about Iraq Reconstruction or Katrina clean-up? These are the guys in the know.

It is first-come, first-serve, so make sure you get there early. We are already expecting more people than we can handle.

Waxman Threatens Mukasey With Contempt Over Cheney's FBI Interview on CIA Leak Probe

Tuesday 08 July 2008
Laurie Kellman, The Associated Press

Washington - A House panel threatened to cite Attorney General Michael Mukasey with contempt of Congress unless he produces documents from an FBI interview with Vice President Dick Cheney regarding the leak of a CIA agent's identity.

Even as he issued the warning, Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Henry Waxman, D-Calif., also backed off his demand for a similar report on President Bush.

"The report of the FBI interview with Vice President Cheney needs to be produced, however," Waxman wrote in a letter to Mukasey, noting that the oversight committee is set to vote July 16 on whether to cite Mukasey with contempt of Congress.

"I strongly urge you to comply with the duly issued subpoena before then," Waxman said. "The committee cannot complete its inquiry into this serious matter without the report of the vice president's FBI interview."

There was no immediate indication that Mukasey would comply. He has made the case that any reports of interviews with Bush or Cheney on the subject would threaten "core executive branch confidentiality interests and fundamental separation of powers principles."

Is there a backbone in Washington ,besides Paul Hodes'?
You bet. Come down to Red River Theaters in Concord, this Saturday at 4 to meet our Congressman Paul Hodes, Committee Chairman Rep. Henry Waxman, and show support for you Merrimack County Democrats

Rep. Henry Waxman is the Democratic equivalent to Eliot Ness, trying to clean up criminality in the Bush and Cheney Administration..

House to consider changes to records management

WASHINGTON - The House is expected to consider legislation Wednesday that would update the Federal Records Act and the Presidential Records Act.

Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), chairman of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee and one of three sponsors of the bill, says agency practices for preserving e-mail and other records are inadequate.

The bill (H.R. 5811) would require the Archivist of the United States to develop regulations for how agency should preserve e-mails as records.

The bill would also require agencies to make electronic records searchable, establish a process to certify agency management systems meet specific requirements and establish a time line of no more than four years to comply with the Archivist's regulations.

In addition, the legislation would establish standards for the capture of Presidential records.

Forget the Untouchables theme...This is like the guy who follows the circus elephants: it's a hell of a cleanup, and the crap is everywhere. But no one else can or will do it, seemingly. I am looking forward greatly to tomorrow, to hear firsthand how he will clean up on the Repuglicans, with Obama in the White House !
