Announcing My Candidacy...

( - promoted by Dean Barker)

..for re-election to the Lebanon City Council!

Sorry for the teaser, but after yesterday's Union Leader mention, I couldn't help it... Despite rumors suggesting otherwise, the only race I am considering is my re-election to the Lebanon City Council on Tuesday, March 10th. Below is my "formal announcement." Blue Hampshire gets it first!

The November 2010 elections will undoubtedly be very exciting. In the meantime, I hope we will all remember that there are very important local elections coming up this spring. In Lebanon, not only will we be electing city councilors and school board members, but we'll also be voting (again) on a bond for a desperately-needed middle school as well as on the Fair Tax resolution. Check out what's coming up in your town this spring. As Tip O'Neill said:

"All politics is local."

And please feel free to help me with a contribution! Together, we can keep moving New Hampshire - and our cities and towns - forward...

-------------------------------------
Hill to Run At-Large

"These are challenging times, for our community - and for our families," says Lebanon Mayor Karen Liot Hill, also a Ward 3 City Councilor, "But there is no challenge we cannot meet if we listen to each other, work together, and embrace change, even as we preserve the best of what we have. That's been my commitment while serving Lebanon on the City Council for the last four years and as mayor for the past year."

KarenLH :: Announcing My Candidacy...
Hill, who first won a Ward 3 Council seat in 2005 and was re-elected in 2007, will run for the at-large seat being vacated by outgoing Councilor and former Mayor Cliff Desrosiers. Lebanon voters will elect four city councilors in the municipal elections on Tuesday, March 10th.

"I believe we've made measurable progress, not only in what we've done, but in how we do the people's business," she says, "and I am eager to keep our city moving in a positive direction. I hope that Lebanon residents will find my experience, my commitment to including people in their government and responding to their concerns, and my vision for our city worthy of their continued support."

In addition to serving as the current Mayor, Hill serves as the City Council representative to the Master Plan Steering Committee, whch is overseeing the update to the Community Vision, Master Plan, and Zoning Ordinance. The updated Zoning Ordinance wil be presented to voters on the March 2010 ballot. Hill also serves as the Council representative to the Strategic Planning Committee, the Energy Committee, the Westboro Committee, the CATV Board, and the Grafton County Economic Development Council.

Hill lives with her husband, Andrew, their two daughters, Marina (9) and Zoe (2), and their dog Dylan, in Andy's childhood home in downtown Lebanon, where her community service extends beyond City Hall. She sits on the Boards of WISE and Vital Communities, serves as the worship leader at First Baptist Church of Lebanon, and is a volunteer for the Lebanon Outing Club at Storrs Hill.

"But, in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope." Si se puede. Yes we can.

Thanks (0.00 / 0)
Honored to have your endorsement - and such a nice one at that!

Change is inevitable, but progress is not. Working together, we can make sure that change = progress. And that's what makes us progressive...

Greetings from another Ward 3er! (4.00 / 1)
Congrats Karen.  Now Wards 1 & 2 get to vote for you, too.  And, I'll be working to get your replacement elected in Ward 3 (Scott P).

So glad... (0.00 / 0)
that Scott stepped forward. (We need more mathematicians in elected office!) I really look forward to serving with him on the Council... Thanks for your support. Hi to Paul!

Not in the shot

Congratulations. Thanks for stepping forward. (0.00 / 0)
I do want to note that the town of Durham is looking to select three council members and has six candidates.  Only two women, though.  :(

thank you for running for reelection (4.00 / 1)
As one of our best and brightest emerging leaders I am always happy to mention your name to reporters! You might not be running for major office this time but I will bet my life that at some point I will be voting for you!

Watching your career is a joy. It gives me confidence that we will remain the majority party providing progressive leadership for years to come.
