Jennifer Donahue - the gift that keeps on giving

by: susanthe

Ms. Donahue does it again at HuffPo.

My question to the Obama team is this: why nominate a Republican if you don't want to hear different viewpoints? How do you have a "Team of Rivals" if you can't tolerate the rivals?

This is the argument she's making. No where in her (fortunately) brief commentary does she hold Judd Gregg accountable for being unwilling to play with others.

It's those darned myopic Democrats.
I don't get it. How is this woman the political director of ANYTHING?

More (Dean): Did it ever occur to Director Donahue, when she was penning this revisionist fantasy that it's somehow Obama's fault for Gregg's withdrawal, to disclose that Judd Gregg was "instrumental" in founding the Institute of Politics she directs, and that he also leads its Public Advisory Board?

The Villagers really have no shame.

How bipartisan of her (4.00 / 4)
Meanwhile, Rahm is falling on the White House sword.

Wall Street Journal via Huffington Post:

Mr. Emanuel owned up to one mistake: message. What he called the outside game slipped away from the White House last week, when the president and others stressed bipartisanship rather than job creation as they moved toward passing the measure. White House officials allowed an insatiable desire in Washington for bipartisanship to cloud the economic message a point coming clear in a study being conducted on what went wrong and what went right with the package, he said.

"an insatiable desire in Washington for bipartisanship" -- I love it when the Journal talks dirty.

To both Susan for the diary and Dean for the reminder about the conflict of interest.

the comments about Ms. Donahue's rantlet at HuffPo are quite amusing.

Someone with a HuffPo account (0.00 / 0)
Should inform them of this blatant violation of ethics. Donahue is shilling for her BOSS, for crying out loud, without disclosing the relationship.

'Boss' (4.00 / 2)
That's probably not accurate: the 'public advisory board' wouldn't have straight-line authority over her position. But it would have strong influence, especially in the case of a founder.

I was just going to make that exact point. The relationship is certainly worth disclosing.

Re: Huffington Post accounts, I believe Caulfield and NH Ex-Pat are both Huffers.

BREAKING NEWS: Donahue's wrong! (4.00 / 1)
President Obama didn't kick Judd Gregg out of the cabinet, JUDD GREGG decided he couldn't be part of a Team of Rivals, so he up and quit!

Or need we remind you of the Senator's own words yesterday on why he resigned, which conveniently happen to be the title of your post:

I couldn't be Judd Gregg.

Judd Gregg couldn't tolerate his Teammates of Rivals and their viewpoints, not the other way around. Even Gregg admits the mistake was his own, not President Obama's.

"Where we are met with cynicism and doubt and those who tell us that we can't, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people: Yes, we can." - Barack Obama

Fail. (0.00 / 0)
...the president has been incredibly gracious. And none of this decision is related at all and in any way to his willingness to include diversity of thought and initiative within his cabinet. Just the opposite. He has been a person who has reached out -- and aggressively reached out across the aisle. And I immensely respect that and I immensely respect him. I know he's going to be a strong and effective and good president.

Susan, you have it exactly right (0.00 / 0)
Donahue is an embarrassment to NH. I can't imagine what she is to St. A's.

On a related note, I hear Karl Rove is looking for work. Apparently a writing gig he had did not work out. Perhaps a philosophy chair at St. Anselm's is in order?
