NRSC Trying to Monkey with Shea-Porter and NH-Senate

by: Dean Barker

The NRSC released a web ad today trashing our Carol.

I'm not going to link to it because that's the whole point.  Web ads have no effect on anyone other than media elites who craft political narrative and dirty hippies like us who try to push that narrative here or there.

It's pretty clear the point of the ad is to get people talking up a run by Carol for Senate, and therefore a divisive primary for us and a weaker general election prospect.  Or what the Hill said:

Though the effectiveness of Web videos is up for debate, the early shots at Shea-Porter could be seen as an effort by the NRSC to get her into the race. And though few undecided voters are likely to see the video, local press has picked it up. John DiStaso, dean of the New Hampshire political press corps, wrote about it in his Thursday column.
So while DiStaso fell for the bait (accidentally on purpose?), we all know that the last constituency in the world from which Carol is going to feel pressure about a run is the NRSC.

So, pretty much a waste of money from Big John Cornyn there.

Big John doesn't know how it works in these parts. (0.00 / 0)
And his side should have learned something from the Obama/Hillary divide that so quickly ended. Democratic commentators, activists, bloggers, and grassroots leaders (the Dems who will see this) think these things through, so when NRSC puts up YouTube videos trying to divide the Democrats, the Democratic response will be, every time, "hey, screw those guys!"

The only way NRSC will be involved in any divisiveness during an as-of-yet-non-existent primary battle is if one Democrat accuses another Democrat of sounding like NRSC.  Otherwise, Republicans attacking Democrats during primaries only serves to usefully remind us that we're on the same team.
