Judd Gregg is Spartacus

by: Mike Caulfield

Tue Apr 24, 2007 at 07:31:15 AM EDT

Quick note while we're waiting to find out if Judd Gregg is the Senator with the secret hold on the  Senate Campaign Disclosure Parity Act. That note being this: please remember this is not the first time Sen. Gregg has been implicated with this stuff. He was also one of the final suspects last year in the hold on the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act of 2006.

This vintage video from August 2006 has the details on that bill (starts about 30 seconds in -- worth waiting for, trust me):

Which leads us to the overwhelming question: even if Gregg doesn't have the hold, why is he always so willing to provide cover to those that do?

I think it's time for the esteemed press to start putting the parenthetical "one of the most partisan members of the Senate" after the name Judd Gregg. The man is carrying so much water for the worst parts of the Republican Party I'm surprised he doesn't throw his back out.

Judd Gregg? A Weasel? (0.00 / 0)
C'mon, Mike, what do you expect?  Moral courage?  This is a man who received a Vietnam-era draft waiver for sleepwalking and severe acne.  (Judd supported the war, but only for poor people whose fathers didn't serve as governor!)

Re: partisanship, there's a long history in that area, too.  Case in point:  Judd was the only House member from north of the Mason-Dixon line to vote against condemning Reagan's visit (and wreath-laying) at a Waffen-SS cemetery in Bitburg, Germany.

A real source of pride for the Granite State. . . .
