Our Draft Shaheen Web Site Is Up!

Hello, Blue Hampshire!
In order to facilitate the growing draft Shaheen effort, we now have a web site up at http://www.draftshah....  You can sign an on line petition, and you can send a message about why you want Jeanne Shaheen to be our next United States Senator!  There is information about Governor Shaheen's great record, and some information about John Sununu's less than great performance. So, please visit the site, and join up.  Thank you, and try to stay as cool as possible in the least carbon producing manner possible!

I Love Jeanne! (0.00 / 0)
Like many people who are concerned about our future, I love Jeanne Shaheen. 

I'm supporting Steve Marchand right now, and I think he'd be an excellent United States Senator, but I would be delighted to see Jeanne Shaheen run and I trust Steve's pledge that if she does he won't -- and then I'll help in any way I can.

This is a good woman who did much for New Hampshire.  Sure, we disagreed on some things, and I was disappointed when she vetoed the bill abolishing the death penalty that I sponsored in 2000 after it passed the House and Senate.  But she had her reasons, clearly stated her position, and I can respect that.  She dealt with that controversy as she handled many others:  with class, and with determination and commitment to her beliefs.  No more can be asked of someone.

We need to have a Democrat from New Hampshire in the United States Senate.  Jeanne Shaheen would be fantastic.  Thank you, Kathy, for your continued involvement and passion.

The opening words to your site are thus:

The Iraq war continues. No steps are taken to reverse global warming. Nine million children go without health insurance. Life-saving stem cell research is blocked.

I couldn't have picked a better set of priorities, in that order, to highlight, and then when I clicked on the Sununu button I got the same rundown from his sorry angle.

If/when Gov. Shaheen decides to run, learning about her platform will be a top priority for me.  But right now, the Sullivan platform looks pretty darn good.

The draft Shaheen web site has been up less than 48 hours, and donations are already at $1,300!  I have had a crash course in Act Blue - what a great tool!  Thanks to everyone who has visited the site, and please let your friends know that they can log on at http://www.draftshah... for more information.  When I was chair of the state party, at the worst of times we had an office and a staff of at least two people, and at the best of times, well, we had several offices and a staff of a lot.  Draft Shaheen consists of volunteers and one very lowly paid recent college grad working at my dining room table.  This is fun!  But also serious; John Sununu has got to go, and Jeanne Shaheen would be a most excellent senator!
