Fun Friday Poll: Who's on First?

by: Dean Barker

Fri Nov 07, 2008 at 06:16:28 AM EST

I remember reading somewhere a couple weeks ago that Bobby Jindal would be coming to Iowa in post-election November.

So now that we've wrapped up this one, let the fun begin: Who will be the first presidentially puffed-up elephant to visit the First-in-the-Nation primary state?

(And who, exactly, will be here to greet him or her?)

Take the poll, give us your thoughts in the comments.

Mitt Romney (4.00 / 1)
its so hard to be right...Tom Rath passed me on 93 yesterday, its hard to ignore the license plate #32 on his humongoid Mercedes....'if only we had picked Mitt instead of that twit'...Tom will be there for Mitt

There's a home near me (4.00 / 2)
that I pass now and then on the road.

During election season, they must have had ten McCain Palin Sununu signs on their road frontage.

When I passed by at 1am on election night, they were all gone, replaced with two primary-era Romney signs.

The Romney NH people who got behind McCain despite disliking him must be burning mad right now, especially b/c of Palin.

I wonder how the Mormon support for Prop 8 (0.00 / 0)
affects Romney's chances.

Is Jeb! in it? (0.00 / 0)
There was a story that the various leaks that - accurately or not - make Palin look so bad come from Bush loyalists in the McCain campaign eager to derail a potential Jeb! opponent.

Can Giuliani be that divorced from reality, to think he has a chance? I suppose the Horn endorsement says so...

For a half-minute I thought you meant Bush League Bradley.

I can't imagine anyone with the name "Bush" will have a chance again in a generation.

As for Rudy(!), yes, he is that divorced from reality.

I left Fred off the list, because, well, really...

The leaks (0.00 / 0)
I heard Carl Cameron -- three people have e-mailed me that video -- pin the leaks on Steve whatshisname, the man who brought us the Georgia crisis (is that over?).

So it's pretty systematic, the leaking: Fast and furious (before the first post-election pundit weekend), and pinned on a guy who left before the end.

Do you mean Steve Schmidt? (4.00 / 1)
I thought he was there at the end. Randy Scheunemann was the foreign affairs guy, supposedly purged a week before the vote.

Scheunemann (0.00 / 0)
Thank you. Cameron mentioned Scheunemann by name. I don't know why I changed his first name to Steve.

Never count Jeb out n/t (0.00 / 0)

If I were a national Republican leader (4.00 / 2)
and I were resisting the massive soul-searching and realignment that they really need, my top priority would be to kill the New Hampshire primary - at least its influence.

Yes, New Hampshire resuscitated McCain. No, that didn't work out so well.

I think it's Mitt at the moment, but a lot depends on what happens. If Palin's smart, she won't run right away. Running right away will seem like the smart thing, while she has a national name, but she's better off (sorry, can't think of a better example) following Hillary's lead and getting a reputation outside presidential politics -- perhaps in the Senate as well.

I can't imagine Jindal really has a future in the GOP. A Cabinet post, maybe.

Rudy's moment never came. McCain's VP became his last option. Do you suppose he'd run for Senate? It would be tough, but he's thought about it before.

Crist I would think of, but he didn't deliver his state for the Maverick.

Huckabee ... I don't know. I think he's going nowhere, but he does have charm.

Jeb will definitely sit out 2012. He may seriously consider 2016, though.

Sarah Palin's future plans (4.00 / 3)
watch it all...Letterman's a wicked pissah

I read somewhere.... (0.00 / 0)
that Bobby Jindal already has arranged a New Hampshire visit in the near future, I may have been confused, he has booked an Iowa visit.

Watch out for this guy, he's extremely conservative but astute politically enough to say "The Other Guy Is Worse" doesn't make for avery inspiring bumper sticker.
