Papa Sununu already playing the Scary Gays card

by: Peter Sullivan

Thu Mar 26, 2009 at 16:51:08 PM EDT

(We should start making a list of all the types and stereotypes of people and places Sununu Senior is happy to spit on in the effort to win elections. - promoted by Dean Barker)

In a statement after the vote, state GOP chairman John H. Sununu called the vote "another attempt by the liberal Democrats in the Legislature to impose their San Francisco agenda on the State of New Hampshire."

The former governor said, "The small margin by which the bill passed should encourage Governor Lynch to take a stand with a clear 'I will veto this bill if it gets to my desk' message."

What, pray tell, is a San Francisco agenda, does that involve Rice-a-Roni or Balco cream?

OMG (4.00 / 2)
I just saw that quote and said, I have to do a diary at BH - but you beat me to it!! Which must mean that Sullivans sometimes think alike.

Not only does Papa Sununu not know what is going on in NH, he doesn't know what is going on in California - Prop 8.

Hey, congratulations to everyone who worked to make this happen. I am very proud of my state today.

The Sullivans Thinking Alike... (0.00 / 0)
...very scary.  Especially for the Republicans.

And thanks and congrats to both and all Sullivans for your work and outreach on marriage equality.  Kathy -- I E-Mailed your passionate call-to-action to all House Democrats and it made a difference!

where's the blockquote from?

I need a link, please.

(thought the other link was to it.)

And Wasilla values? (4.00 / 3)
That quote encapsulates the big difference between our political parties.

Papa Su-no-no-no waxes rhapsodic about "San Francisco" values being forced on his ever-shrinking ilk, meanwhile, even at the height of Dubya's malfeasance, I have never seen Chairman Buckley accuse the GOP of forcing "Crawford, TX" values on us, or "Wasilla values" last year.

And the reason why is that progressives believe we all share AMERICAN values, which includes equal protection under the law.

Today was a good day. It will be a great day, however, when our state law better reflects those American and NH values.

What is San Francisco's agenda? (4.00 / 1)
The same as any other urban area's agenda, really. Create a safe, clean living space where people can civilly go about their business with the highest reasonable collective standard of living attainable, administered via democratic means.

Absolutely I would rather have a San Francisco agenda than, say, the Republican AIG Agenda of the last eight years (soak the government for everything you can, sob about being a victim when you get called on it, and screw the people who weren't positioned to soak the government like you did).

IT for John Lynch '04 and NHDP '08 - I'm liking my track record so far!

According to Republicans, (4.00 / 1)
Great American cities exist only to be mocked and compared to Sodom and Gomorrah, until one of them gets attacked, making it an excellent site for claiming to be more patriotic than political opponents.

Small quibble (0.00 / 0)
Getting attacked by a hurricane doesn't exempt your city from Republican mockery and condemnation, at least if you have blacks.

QUICK TAKES:

--GOP chair Sununu says that passage yesterday of a medical marijuana bill by the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs Committee on a 13-7 vote "confirmed the Democratic agenda is coming out of San Francisco." He said Lynch "has to stand up and say he will veto this one or else lose all credibility as a rational centrist." But Matt Simon, executive director of New Hampshire Common Sense Marijuana Policy, called it "a good day for democracy."

Bor-ing

"Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does." Allen Ginsberg

San Francisco is a great, beautiful city, and America would be worse off without it. (4.00 / 1)
Maybe the "Country First" party would find more inroads if they stopped disowning big chunks of the country while accusing opponents of being unpatriotic.

You never hear Democratic leaders talk about red states the way Republican leaders talk about blue states, cities, the West Coast, and the Northeast.
