Keene and Claremont Public Training on Healthcare Reform, This Tues and Wed.

by: Mike Caulfield

Mon Jun 08, 2009 at 20:01:43 PM EDT

( - promoted by Dean Barker)

A collection of New Hampshire non-profits will host a panel discussion and training titled "Quality Affordable Health Care for All in 2009: What It Is and Steps to Achieve It" on June 9th in Claremont and on June 10th in Keene.

The workshops are sponsored by Working Families Win and NH Citizens Alliance and combine an educational panel discussion with an advocacy and skills training session.  The panelists will focus on the major public policy debates on national healthcare reform; discuss the public health insurance option and Medicare; and talk about the plan to include everyone in healthcare reform, including low income people, immigrants, and people of color.  There will also be time for Q&A following the panel discussion.  Following the panel discussion, participants will have the option of attending either a health equities training or an advocacy skills training session.

Claremont Session

WHEN:
Tuesday, June 9th, 6 pm to 8:30 pm

WHERE:
First Congregational Church, 72 Pleasant St in Claremont

Keene session

WHEN:
Wednesday, June 10th, from 6 pm to 9pm

WHERE:
Kay Fox Room at the Keene Public Library

The discussion around national health care reform is moving at a rapid pace. Grassroots advocacy is one of the most effective tools for stopping special interest groups and insurance industry leaders who are working hard to derail the growing movement for healthcare for all.  Join us as we come together to learn more and develop our skills for effective advocacy.

Financial crisis. (0.00 / 0)

The financial crisis has taught us a lot.  One of the things the financial crisis has taught us is that even giants can fall, and even though he lives down the street, the local banker cares more for a balance sheet than anyone's household.  It's been a terrifying ride, and hopefully the whole thing will be back up faster than the fastest rapid payday loans.  The financial crunch has put a hurting on many industries and millions of people, and the lessons to be learned for the future are legion.  There are now record numbers of people running for payday loans because of unreliable banks during the financial crisis.
