Some stats on site usage / growth (update / correction)

Some site stats:

Month Users Signups Diaries Comments Tot Diaries/U Tot Comments/U New Diaries/U New Comments/U
Dec 06 72 60 113 1233 1.3 14.0 1.6 17.1
Jan 07 132 62 150 1478 1.7 17.2 1.1 11.2
Feb 07 194 60 136 1297 1.8 18.2 0.7 6.7
Mar 07 254 75 189 1795 2.0 19.5 0.7 7.1
Apr 07 329 67 184 1581 2.1 20.2 0.6 4.8

The site was launched in mid-November 2006. We're growing at a fairly steady pace. The "/U" ratios are the total or new month comments or diaries divided by the number of registered users at the start of the month.

How on earth (0.00 / 0)
did you collate all this?

Great to see altogether, especially as we are nearing our 1000th diary and our 500th user.

A bit convoluted (0.00 / 0)
I went to the list of diaries and found the first diary of each month, and got its number.

I then went to the first comment in that diary and got its number.

For users, I did a binary search of profiles:
http: //www.bluehampshire.com/userDiary.do?personId=N
to find the first user ID created on the first of each month.

Those numbers, which are assigned consecutively, gave me the total number of diaries, comments, and registered users as of the first of each month. Subtracting the figures at the start of January from those at the start of February gave me the activity for February.

The diaries per user and comments per user are the month's activity divided by the cumulative users, not the month's new users.

And yes, it was noticing the diary count close in on 1000 that prompted this.

So this method (0.00 / 0)
did not rely on access to any non-public information, and could be used to get a similar profile of any blog using the Soapblox platform.

Correction: the numbers were total/total (0.00 / 0)
not month over total. Fixed in body.

excellent (0.00 / 0)
I love this meta-goodness.

Users not necessarily commentators (0.00 / 0)
I think it's interesting that as more users sign up, the number of comments and posts per user go down.  Many people still prefer reading to writing.  LOL

other analytics meta (0.00 / 0)
any other analytics meta available? Page Views, Vistors, etc.?
