Guinta: That Was Then, This is Now (DOMA Edition)

by: William Tucker

Sun Jul 18, 2010 at 08:26:47 AM EDT

Shira Schoenberg:

In 2001, the Legislature considered barring New Hampshire from recognizing same-sex marriages performed elsewhere. Guinta opposed the legislation. Spokesman Sean Thomas said in 2001, gay marriage was limited to Vermont and Guinta never thought it would spread. "He took the libertarian position: We don't need to get involved in this," Thomas said. With the federal Defense of Marriage Act already law, Thomas said Guinta thought state legislation was unnecessary. Thomas said Guinta supports DOMA.

John Boehner wants a moratorium on new regulations, in general. (0.00 / 0)
That's stupid. I'm not saying he's stupid; I'm saying he thinks the people are stupid. Monumentally stupid.

Essentially, 'I'm John Boehner. If things my party spent a decade screwing up are still affecting you just months after you kicked us out, make me the most powerful rule-writer in the land and I promise not to write or change any rules."

You don't have to be a liberal to be appalled by the systematic intellectual dishonesty of the present Republican Party. He doesn't just think people are stupid; he thinks people are stupid, naive, and gullible.

Prove him wrong.
