The thing I love about Carol's campaigns - it happens every cycle - is the way she is so frugal with her spending and activity at first, to the point of people wondering where the campaign is, and then all of a sudden there is this exponentially blossoming number of items that appear as you get closer to the general election. She has her own tempo for running a race, and by the metrics of the permanent nature of campaigning it shouldn't work. But it does work, and it works exceedingly well.
Because it has been a day full of items from CSP both on the campaign and in Congress, I am just going to paste the various press releases below the fold for your viewing pleasure.

SHEA-PORTER CAMPAIGN CALLS ON GUINTA TO RENOUNCE MEANS TESTING AND TO BE HONEST ABOUT SOCIAL SECURITY
Manchester, NH - Frank Guinta continues to hide his plans for Social Security from New Hampshire voters. During the first debate, Guinta refused to rule out means testing for Social Security, a proposal that would fundamentally undermine a program that supports over 245,000 seniors in New Hampshire. Guinta also incorrectly claimed that Social Security was only solvent until 2015. That is blatantly inaccurate; the program is solvent until 2037.[1]
"Social Security is too important to New Hampshire seniors and families for vague and misleading statements. After years of reckless spending by Republicans in Washington, it is hard to stomach Frank Guinta's demands that the deficit now be reduced on the backs of the middle class," said Campaign Manager Robert Moller. "We hope that he immediately renounces means testing for Social Security, which would dramatically alter the program and do away with the social safety net all Americans rely on. Mr. Guinta's statements on Social Security have been anything but clear, and he should immediately tell the people of New Hampshire if he plans to privatize, change, or dismantle the program."
Guinta must be more honest with New Hampshire voters about his plans for Social Security. His statements on Social Security so far range from: "let me take my own money and deal with my own investments for retirement"[2] to Social Security is "no longer consistent with current pay scales and lifestyles."[3] However, he still refuses to give a concise explanation about his plan for Social Security. New Hampshire voters deserve an honest answer from Frank Guinta.

Manchester, NH- Frank Guinta is on the attack once again. Desperate to distract from his repeated lies and lack of credibility, Guinta is trying to mislead voters about Carol Shea-Porter's record. First, Guinta claimed that Shea-Porter urged House leadership not to vote on extending the 2001 and 2003 tax breaks. The truth is that Shea-Porter urged that a vote be held on extending tax breaks for the middle class. Guinta also claimed that Carol supports corporate welfare and tax breaks for shipping jobs overseas. This actually contradicts Guinta's line of attack during the first debate, when he claimed that Carol wanted to harm corporations and businesses. Now, Guinta is claiming that Shea-Porter was the deciding vote that the House adjourn. It is clear that Guinta has trouble getting his facts straight, and it appears that he is becoming confused by his own lies.
"It has become abundantly clear that Frank Guinta and his campaign have no respect for the facts, and that they are going to continue to attempt to mislead voters," said campaign manager Rob Moller. "It's not surprising, considering Guinta's poor track record with honesty. Guinta has a mysterious $500,000 bank account that he refuses to explain, even while he uses it to fund his campaign for public office. As Mayor, he failed to contact police after witnessing an early-morning violent bar fight involving his friends, and he recently backtracked after denying he had any student loans during his very first debate with Carol Shea-Porter. With this track record, I can understand why his campaign is trying to change the subject."
New Hampshire voters understand why they can't trust Frank Guinta. He is repeatedly attacking Carol in order to cover up his own unfortunate record and extreme ideas. Voters will have a clear choice on November 2nd.

Shea-Porter Votes to Remedy Unfair Trade Practices by Foreign Countries, Increase U.S. Manufacturing
Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter today voted with the House of Representatives to address unfair trade practices of currency manipulation by foreign countries. The Currency Reform for Fair Trade Act (H.R. 2378) reverses a practice by the U.S. Commerce Department that prevented the Department from treating foreign government currency practices as an export subsidy. This bipartisan bill passed the House by a vote of 348 to 79.
"For years, China has manipulated its own currency, leading to the loss of U.S. manufacturing jobs and our large trade deficit," said Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter. "This bill will help stimulate our manufacturing sector while keeping China and other countries honest in their trade practices."
On September 25, 2010, Congresswoman Shea-Porter cosigned a letter to House leadership urging that this bill be brought to the floor for a vote. Congresswoman Shea-Porter is a member of a number of working groups focused on advancing policies aimed at protecting and creating American jobs, supporting fair trade policies that create jobs in the U.S. instead of shipping them overseas, and supporting domestic policies that benefit and empower the middle class. Shea-Porter is a member of the House Trade Working Group and the Competitiveness Task Force, and is a founding member of the Populist Caucus.
