Here come the Regressives

(Bienvenue au Nouveaux Beckistan. - promoted by Dean Barker)

Sounds like the crazy bus is fully loaded for next year... according to the New Hampshire Business Review, the House Republican Alliance has concocted a list of 33 changes in state law they wish to change:

They include repealing the marriage equality law, allowing, "zoning deregulation," exemption of New Hampshire firearms from federal laws and specifically kicking out two marital masters and a judge.... along with Education Commissioner Virginia Barry.
Speaking of education, the alliance also wants to provide tax breaks to those who choose (yes, choose) to home-school their kids or send them to private school.

I looked around the Repubican Alliance website - didn't see anything specific to this, but none of this surprises me. It's going to be a rough two years...

Sorry, for the multiple posts, but for some reason the site won't let me post more than one section at a time.

Both my grandsons (0.00 / 0)
did the International Baccalaureate program at a public high school in MD, great prep for college, really challenging.  Be a shame to make that completely unavailable for NH kids.

NHHRA on Personal Liberty (0.00 / 0)
PERSONAL LIBERTY
1. Parental notification before performing abortion on a minor (LSR 2011-H-0008-R).

 10. Jury nullification (LSR 2011-H-0091-R).
 11. Allow defendants to appeal rulings of the human rights commission to court.

I actually agree with #5,  the ability to record the police offers some protection from police misconduct.

NHHRA on Affordable Government (0.00 / 0)

1. Change rule-making process so all rules meet legislative intent (LSR 2011-H-0086-R).
  2. Reform Election Law: require photo ID to vote; inhabitant status on ID; clarify domicile requirements.
  3. Authorize state enforcement of immigration laws.
  4. Reform the state employees pension system (LSR 2011-H-0137-R & LSR 2011-H-0144-R).
  5. Create a defined contribution pension plan for government workers.
  6. Disentangle state and federal government.
  7. Repeal evergreen clauses in government employee contracts (LSR 2011-H-0088-R & LSR 2011-H-0099-R).
  8. Authorize municipal spending caps (LSR 2011-H-0073-R).

These are the issues our legislature will be dealing with over the next two years.  New Hampshire will be the next Arizona.

Election Law (0.00 / 0)
Why is is that Republicans are so preoccupied with making it harder to vote?  Considering that they're the ones who pull funny business during elections, the logical conclusion is that they want to make it prohibitive for certain groups to vote.

Thanks for these (0.00 / 0)
This further proves my point: Republicans are regressive....

The NH GOP (4.00 / 3)
has been silent for the first time in years on the topic of "voter fraud." Apparently it's only fraudulent when Democrats win.

As usual, "Personal LIberty" only applies to white, male, heterosexuals.

I see nothing here that will take us into the future. The GOP is firmly rooted in 1855.

You're saying they respect my rights (0.00 / 0)
as a white, male, heterosexual college student?

I'm pretty sure they'd like to stop me from voting.

thanks Douglas (0.00 / 0)
it's nice to see some things never change.

You're being too inclusive (0.00 / 0)
Personal liberty applies only to white, male, wealthy, Christiany, capitalist, handgun-carrying heterosexuals.  I might be leaving out a few qualifiers.

One good thing about this election season..... (0.00 / 0)
is that Nancy Eliot wasn't running.
