City Chairman Bob Backus announces appointment to help manage Fall campaign efforts.

With this Fall's campaigns for mayor, welfare commissioner, alderman, and school committee heating up, Manchester's Democrats are bringing on board veteran Maine activist and Manchester resident Megan Arsenault to serve as field director. Ms. Arsenault will help coordinate party efforts in support of their candidates in the November 8th municipal election.

"Megan's background in the day-to-day work of keeping our field  program moving in a fast-moving campaign environment make her a terrific choice to drive our targeting and turnout efforts," Bob Backus said.  "There are a lot of moving parts to a field effort in a city the size of Manchester and we're confident that Megan will be able to keep everything running smoothly."

Most recently, Ms. Arsenault worked with the Maine Democratic Party on field efforts in last general election. In 2010, Megan worked on Rosa Scarcelli's gubernatorial campaign in the primary, an election that saw Ms. Scarcelli, a first-time candidate, top former Maine Attorney General and House Speaker Steve Rowe. As part of the Scarcelli campaign's aggressive field program, Ms. Arsenault earned invaluable experience managing voter outreach efforts. A native of Rumford, ME., Megan is currently completing a degree program at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester.

"I'm very excited to begin this experience with the Manchester Democrats. I'm ready for the experience that working in a big city will provide."
