FoxNews Rejects French Mitt Romney Ad

by: TJ Walker

Wed Dec 14, 2011 at 15:13:20 PM EST

My office just got off the phone with Erin Kelly, head of political ad sales at the Fox News Channel. She told us our ad "French Romney" was rejected because everything Fox airs "has to be truthful."

No, I'm not making this up.  60 seconds after the call ended, Erin called back to clarify. She says our ad was rejected because it was "misleading."

Really.

Because if it's one thing we can all agree with, there would never be anything on the airwaves at Fox that a fair-minded person could construe as misleading.<!--more-->

To borrow a phrase from Fox, "We report, you decide" Here is the ad in question below.

OK, er.... (0.00 / 0)
I have no love for Mitt Romney and wouldn't support him if the only other choice on the ballot was an African Violet.

I am usually infuriated by Fox News, and watch it largely to glean right-wing idiocies to report in my blog posts.

However, the ad above really pissed me off (must be having a bad day...its that damn broken tie-rod this morning...)  The subtitles have absolutely nothing to do with what Mitt is actually saying.  It appears to be playing on american ignorance of foreign languages - even those languages spoken right on our border.

I'm not sure whether my reaction is because the ads plays to that ignorance; or whether I was excited to see a non-English ad only to have it be a farce; or because I feel a knee-jerk defense of my own French heritage...or simply because I despise misleading ads, whoever sponsors them.

Sorry TJ and "AmericanLP Org," but I thought yuor own slime was no better than anything Fox does.

Thanks for watching. Sorry you don't liek humor with a point. (0.00 / 0)
We will have to agree to disagree on this one.
