Palintology Not Geography

by: Laura Clawson

Wed Oct 15, 2008 at 16:17:06 PM EDT

Via Salon:

"It seems like, and in our last rally too, and in other parts around this great Northwest, here in New Hampshire, ya just get it."

Enough said? (It's tempting to mock, but really, I think it mocks itself.)

Update (Dean): Sununu riles up the crowd in the only way the radical free marketeer can:

"There's a huge difference between the ticket of Barack Obama and Joe Biden and John McCain and Sarah Palin," Sununu told people gathered at Dover High School. "Barack Obama and Joe Biden are classic big government liberals."

At one point a member of the audience yelled "socialist."

Can you read a map? (4.00 / 1)
I personally believe that, yes, Americans are unable to do so because some people out there in our nation don't have maps...and everywhere such as.

Beachcombings Jewelry

I'm actually willing to give her a pass on the "northwest" thing. We all get tounge-tied. (0.00 / 0)
A mountain of justified criticism aside, if for the first time in her life, a person takes a 20-hour-a-day job giving speeches to crowds bigger than she's used to even seeing, that person can be forgiven for an occasional verbal slip-up.  The test of it is, do you think that if Governor Palin had watched a video five minutes later of herself saying that, she would have caught it and been frustrated with herself?  I'm not ruling it out.

Nail her on the things she says that she repeats ("Who is Barack Obama?" Who are you?), stands by (Alaska is next to Russia so she has foreign policy experience), or the things she legitimately doesn't know/can't answer (the Bush doctrine, the fact that she apparently doesn't read a newspaper).

We should save our criticism for the things for which there is no excuse.  Wait five minutes, she'll give you more material.

Don't believe the pollsters--this part is just warm-up.  Game Day is November 4th, so get out and vote no matter what.

A report from someone who went--actually, two Democrats (4.00 / 3)
We waited 3.5 hours and saw Sarah Palin today. The Republicans did not allow any signs in and passed out cheerleader pom poms free of charge to all. The same stories were told by all: Bradley, Sununu, and Palin. Democrats will tax you, we are against the military, and the usual stories. Of course, we sang the Star Spangled Banner and blessed every soldier we could. Palin actually did a great job with her memorized speech and did not vary from it. The Republicans will win the war and not tax us at all. McCain will balance the budget in his first term..What a Guy...Where is this money coming from?.. There will be no pork under their administration.

An interesting moment was that in line as we waited a person walked down with a clipboard asking for volunteers. She also told people over and over what to do if a protester held a sign up or yelled near them. We were to make a circle around them and chant USA over and over. Then, someone would come and take care of THIS person.

I did find a wonderful woman from Ottawa while I waited. Left thinkers are attracted to me like a magnet. She held up a protest sign against the 'War" and yelled liar while Palin spoke and sure enough she was circled. Krista quietly handed it over to a staffer. Another interesting thing was not only was she circled but a man in a suit showed up and repeatedly tried to take her picture with a backwards camera. She let the women in the crowd know that their are some real women that value our rights and did not act out disrespectfully. Krista can't even vote in this country but she cares. We will add Kista's name to our email lists.

We should be proud of our Tim Horrigan. He gave the line of people waiting a paper with his book included 'The Forgotten Liars" so they could add it to Palin's list. Hopefully, many will read it.

People were bused in for the event. One thing that bothered me quite a bit was the fact that the school allowed the Dover cheerleaders to miss school and cheer at the event. Were all the cheerleaders forced to attend this or was it their choice? They probably had the option go to science or cheer......In my opinion, students should not miss school for political events unless both sides are present.

More good news is that the school kids put homemade Obama signs in the school windows and a UNH student copied Palin's speech to inform the students of her speech from a Democratic view.
