Senior Senator Lame Duck (R-NH)

by: Dean Barker

Sun Feb 22, 2009 at 21:46:17 PM EST

On both sides of the aisle we're starting to glimpse a future uncluttered with deference to the Senior Senator:
"Judd Gregg didn't vote for the stimulus. Does he even care about bringing stimulus money back to New Hampshire?" Grafton County Commissioner Martha Richards, a Holderness Democrat, said at the weekly commissioners' meeting Tuesday morning.

"Apparently by casting his (no) vote, he doesn't have much interest," chimed in Bath Republican Ray Burton, never one to spurn money that might head to the North Country.

Of course, on the elephant side, once the UL disowns you...

And can we send this graph from billmon to the Big and Fancy Fiscal Hawk Summit  tomorrow in lieu of the Senior Senator's blueprint for gutting Social Security?

Look at that green Government debt line closely. (4.00 / 1)
It drops from 1978-1981. Then it rises from 1981-1993. From 1993-2001 it declines again, then creeps back up.

It really is remarkable how the clearly debt rises under Republican Presidents and falls under Democrats.

Yes, that's because the public debt is good when it's held (0.00 / 0)
by the investing class and can be passed on to the next generation to insure a steady stream of income and retain their influence over the off-spring via trust funds and estate agents.

Democrats are concerned about the whole next generation; conservatives only care about THEIR children and the retainers that serve them.

When conservatives talk about "trickle down," they're referring to the stream of interest and dividend checks with which they plan to control their heirs.

The "tax and spend" pattern frustrates those who want to lend.
