We Know Where Jeanne Shaheen Standsby: Kathy Sullivan 2Wed Nov 25, 2009 at 15:05:56 PM EST |
(Typical of the UL to twist Senator Shaheen's understated (but highly effective) style into something that isn't. - promoted by Dean Barker) There was an odd editorial in the UL today claiming that Senator Shaheen has not disclosed where she stands on health insurance reform, other than her vote to move the senate bill forward for debate. http://www.unionleader.com/art... Have they not been paying attention? As anyone who has been following this issue here at BH knows, Senator Shaheen has been very forthcoming - and public - on the need for health insurance reform, and has spoken very publicly about this bill. |
Just two days ago, she was on a conference call with Senator Bennet, discussing the bill with reporters, saying,
"We can deliver health care more cost effectively and chip away at our national deficit while also improving outcomes for patients. This legislation is the first step toward achieving these goals and containing health care costs for all Americans." http://www.rttnews.com/Article... Senator Shaheen even spoke to the Union Leader on Sunday about the bill, disagreeing with Judd Gregg's predicitons of financial catastrophe, noting that the bill would reduce the deficit significantly, in comparison to what will happen if nothing is done. Senator Shaheen is an advocate for reform, including a public option. She is emerging as a leader on this issue, just as she emerged as a leader on unemployment benefits. Unlike Senator Gregg, who is part of the just say no obstructionists. By the way, I again encourage you all to go to the Union Leader and read the comments on these stories; it is an endless source of amusement - and sometimes terror! |
