Papers, please (4.00 / 3)
The law would require license applicants to possess, among other things: 1) "Good moral character"; 2) a degree in journalism; and 3) three writing samples.

Gawd, I thought that was a joke post... (4.00 / 2)
so, um, the First Amendment has been repealed? I must've missed that one somehow. I wonder what would happen if we suggested something similar for legislators - oh, wait- didn't Frank Pingree already think of something sorta like that?

Republicans believe government is bad - then they get into office and prove it.

Maybe we should license mustachios? n/t (4.00 / 1)

Where were the safety features the Canadians require for those drilling in the Canadian Arctic?.... Oh, wait...We don't like regulations down here... hurts business...America's business is...business!

one chart you'll never see (4.00 / 4)
is the number of gallons of wind or solar energy spilling into a body of water, killing wildlife, and destroying an entire way of life.  We need green power NOW!

Pandora/Cassandra (4.00 / 4)
Sarah Palin now seems to be claiming, as if we weren't there in 2008 and don't remember what the debate was about, that "Drill, Baby, Drill" meant "drill on shore so we don't have to drill off shore, because offshore drilling is dangerous. Why do environmentalists support offshore drilling?"

She is a national treasure.  In the fictitious, enigmatic, Nicolas Cage sense.

Mencken's libertarian bent (0.00 / 0)
didn't bend far enough to suffer fools gladly. I would love to hear what he would have said about the Tea Party crowd (who are of course totally taken in by these latter-day equivalents of Twain's Duke and Dauphin). Of course, Mencken had no love of Democrats either!

Right on. (4.00 / 1)
Clemens, of course, would have a field day with Palin and the Tea Party.  The breathtaking stupidity would be too much to ignore.

Maybe, but (4.00 / 1)
After 2 yrs of observation, I can't help feeling @SarahPalinUSA would be more likely 2 get my Nicolas Cage reference than your Kafka reference. #geniuses #snark #tcot

Nicholas Cage? (0.00 / 0)
Nah. Too elite and stuff, kinda like that John Malkovich or somebody. But, you are right about Kafka.
