REPUBLICANS: What The Hell Is This All About?

by: Rep. Jim Splaine

Sun Jul 04, 2010 at 09:26:25 AM EDT

(I thought this was a joke, until I found the link.  and yes, this person is indeed a Republican who filed to run in Grafton Co. - promoted by Dean Barker)

What the hell is this all about?

On this wonderful and beautiful, warm and sunny Independence Day morning, I was reading my online sources for news updates and saw this one.  It's a letter to the editor in The Concord Monitor, and since excerpting it won't do it "justice," I quote it verbatim:

We Must Preserve Our Racial Identity

"I am running as a candidate for state representative in Grafton County District 8. I am running as a Republican, but I have been endorsed by the American Third Position. I am also the American Third Position state chairman of New Hampshire. The American Third Position is a political party that stands for the interests of white Americans.

"For far too long white Americans have been told that diversity is something beneficial to their existence. Statistics prove that the opposite is true. New Hampshire residents must seek to preserve their racial identity if we want future generations to have to possibility to live in such a great state. Affirmative action, illegal and legal non-white immigration, anti-white public school systems, and an anti-white media have done much damage to the United States of America and especially New Hampshire. It is time for white people in New Hampshire and across the country to take a stand. We are only 8 percent of the world's population and we need our own homeland, just like any other non-white group of people deserve their own homeland.

Rep. Jim Splaine :: REPUBLICANS: What The Hell Is This All About?

"What will happen to New Hampshire once it is only 60, 50 or 40 percent white? Statistics show that areas with high non-white populations have higher rates of violent crime. New Hampshire has one of the lowest rates of violent crime in the country, but that will change as the white population percentage declines and the non-white population percentage increases. I urge New Hampshire residents to go to the American Third Position website and read for yourself what it is all about." - Ryan J. Murdough, Ashland.

I then went to the American Third Position WEBSITE, http://american3p.org/ In other Internet research I've done, it appears the organization was formed this year with the purpose, or "mission," of representing the "interests of white people," which I suppose has several meanings."American Third Position" has a slogan, "Liberty.  Sovereignty.  Identity."  At least whatever clown wrote the WEBSITE was able to spell those words, although obviously he or she doesn't understand them.  Perhaps the members of that "group" should take time to read the Declaration Of Independence or the United States Constitution, even if they have to use a finger to follow the words along.

My goodness.  Here in New Hampshire.  And in the Republican Party?  Yes, those viewpoints of racial intolerance used to be seen, and heard, in parts of our great state years ago.  In fact, I remember some ugly racial words expressed by some people, even editorial writers, including in the halls of the State House when I sponsored the legislation for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day seven times between 1979 and 1999 until we finally won passage and won the race to be last in adopting MLK Day.  But I thought we grew up. I know we have, but every now some oddball rears an ugly head.

Independence Day 2010 reminds us we still have work to do to continue this Great American Adventure toward appreciation and acceptance for all human beings who seek to be free and find liberty and happiness for all.

I do anticipate that the good folks in the New Hampshire Republican Party will disavow any connection or support of this self-described so-called "patriots group," or this candidate.  Patriotism is about loving the ideals of our nation and our people, not just loving ourselves.

REPUBLICANS:  I've heard of a big tent, but this one should be shredded quickly.  Throw this group out.

I have been a supporter of SPLC for years and on their national hate map NH has 5 locations.

So what's the candidate vetting process like (4.00 / 1)
over at NHGOP?

Because a few weeks ago the BIG STORY was how incredibly amazingly high the number of R candidates there were who filed.

Amazingly, this is not the first, or even the second candidate since that time I have heard of I would bet they would have preferred not to run.

Third Position? (4.00 / 2)
They named themselves after their favorite page in the Kama Sutra? What is it with these far-right extremists and innuendo-laden names? Seriously, I halfway expect that the next group too ashamed to admit that they're Republicans will declare that they're using canine groomers as their symbol and won't understand why everyone laughs at them for calling themselves 'Doggy Stylers,' then will angrily accuse everyone else of attacking them for the name they picked themselves.

Only the left protects anyone's rights.

Stunning. (4.00 / 3)

Have you told a stranger today about Bill O'Brien and his Tea Party agenda? The people of NH deserve to hear about O'Brien  and his majority committed to destroying New Hampshire and remaking it into a armed survivalist preserve.

The facade has been stripped away (0.00 / 0)
I hold the Republican Party responsible for this ugly, digusting exposure of what is putrid in our nation.

Not all Republicans share this animal's belief. Actually, it is surely a limited few, but most TOLERATE what they know to be a festering cancer!

For that they bear full blame.

The POS author has tarnished our holiday because he was emboldened by tolerance. The teabaggers pumped his ego, the radical wingnuts pumped his courage, and the GOP put up NOT ONE SINGLE ROADBLOCK!

Chairman Sununu, sit in the swill of your own making. Sarah Palin, this is your progeny. Charlie Bass, these are the folks you wish would adore you.

America's enemy is nativism, xenophobia, bigotry, racism, et al.

Let's not pussyfoot around trying to comprehend the "frustration" of the author. This, as W. would say, is an "either your with us or against us" moment. And by us, I means U.S.

I don't think so (0.00 / 0)
I cannot defend the politics of Tea Partiers and their ilk, nor am I fan of lobbyist whore John Sununu and his work on behalf of governments that oppress civil liberties.

But holding the GOP accountable for Mr. Murdough's rank bigotry is wrong -- and it undermines our political dialogue.  We cannot sink to that level.

Both Republican and Democratic leaders must condemn this disgusting garbage.  I have no doubt they will (or already have).

Think away (4.00 / 2)
It is, imo, clear as day.

I do not maintain that the GOP or its member, on the whole, share this POS's point of view. What I am damning, is the GOP playing with fire these last 18 months.

After the election of Obama, the GOP was against the ropes. It was reduced to a regional rump party. We all remember it well.

Today, conservative pundits BRAG about the resurgence of the national GOP. This resurgence was done by intentionally scraping up the dreggs.

What they animated was this crud.

For THIS they bear unmitigated blame.

Just this week the GOP opted to attack Thurgood Marshall ( someone who is literally in line to become a saint according to Episcopalians )

The Democratic candidates for the Grafton 8 House seat are ... (4.00 / 8)
Rep. Phil Preston of Ashland (Mailing address: P.O. Box 537, Ashland, NH  03217)

Marilyn M. Lieto of Groton (Mailing address: 206 River Road Rumney, NH 03266)

Jennifer Tuthill of Alexandria (Mailing address: 420 Washburn Road Alexandria, NH 03222)

It's a 3-seat district, with 2 incumbent Republicans (Margie Maybeck and Burt Williams) not seeking re-election this year.

Support the Democrats in Grafton 8!

The police chief in Henniker (0.00 / 0)
has the same name and this has been a problem for him. I remember Ryan, he used to live in Somersworth, I think.  Unpleasant man.  Used to write letters to Fosters.

at least there are 5 running for 3 seats (0.00 / 0)
There are 5 candidates who have officially filed for a 3-seat district-- so hopefully Mr Murdough will lose his primary.  Grafton #8 is not a particularly rightwing district: if he wins it will be in spite of his racist views, not because of them.

sitting state rep: running for re-election in 2012.

There has been a running commentary on America 3rd on NH Insider... (0.00 / 0)
...I wonder of there is a personal connection....odd that both the letter and the NH Insider story occurred one after the other...

are you saying... (0.00 / 0)
Are you speculating that "NHInsider" is the same person as Ryan Murdough?  There was some strange commentary on that blog about Mexicans "colonizing California."  Thanks for trying to refute it, Thom.

Grok Calls (0.00 / 0)
Here they tiptoe around violent revolt. It's dangled in the rhetoric to remind readers that it IS an option.

There is only a single solution - We the People can and HAVE to pick that responsibility up off the ground just as the original Patriots picked up their muskets in the fight for Freedom.

WE, the people, in the Spirit of the original Fourth of July, need to take up the spirit of that original Revolution, those original Tea Partiers, and return to the original ideas of Freedom & Liberty of those political geniuses.  We can no longer rest of the achievements of those long past - as Ronald Reagan reminded us, we are only a single generation away from losing that Freedom.  We must return to the fray for Freedom, for it is never ending.  We do not always fight with guns, but the fight is always against the passions and ideas of those that believe that the concepts of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence are passe and need to be replaced.  Progressives believe in every fiber of their being that trading security of the State is a worthwhile tradeoff for individual Freedom.  They must be stopped.

Honor.  Courage.  Conviction.

Do YOU have the Honor, this day, to change?  To take up the mantle of Patriot, of a Revolutionary, and follow in the steps of those that originally gave us Freedom and Liberty by the sweat of their brow and the blood lost from their veins?  Do you have the belief that "I and I alone, can make a difference, that I am called to fight to restore this Country back to the principles of our Founders?

Where is your honor, this day?

Watermellons and chitlins (whatever they are) (0.00 / 0)
I guess you all are just kinder and more forgiving than am I. I would much rather have people come right out and say what they think. Democrats have on display all the huge tent issues that drive me nuts but Republicants seem to provide a facade of similarity that does include racism and the other culture war things that I had hoped went away twenty or thirty years ago. I, personally, would much rather have someone say, as one did at the Dem fair booth before the last presidential election, "I wouldn't vote for that nigger if he were the last candidate on earth." In Exeter, a man came up in public and spit on the Obama cardboard cutout on display at our booth.

It's out there folks. If you don't see, that when you object to a politician and can't make a reasonable argument against anything he says but still are wild eyed in opposition, I think it is reasonable to assume that race is a major part of the objection. In 2004 I remember seeing the statistic that there were 247 Republicants in both houses of Congress and not one was black. No black Republicant governors either. The last black Republicant elected to Congress was Watt from Oklahoma I think. Now they have Steele and you can see how that pleases their base. How can you defeat something that hides? I firmly believe that everyone has the right to their opinions, just not the right to do what they want to enforce them. Forcing those opinions underground just makes them fester.

Whatever else you or I might think, the best opposition to racism is folks like Obama and the millions of others like him. I disagree with a bunch of what he tries to accomplish but he is competant, civil, educated, well spoken, has a lovely wife and family, and rich (what could be more American), which disproves all the crap that is in the back of so many minds. I think that this is one of the main sources of the fierce opposition. If he turns out to be reasonably good as a president, many will be shamed by their behavior in the past which was justified by racist or paternalistic notions.

Wearing a ring doesn't make you a bath tub.
