For twice having the moral courage Governor Lingle didn't once have.

Amen to that (4.00 / 1)
And shame on the Hawaii legislature's leaders for declining to call a special session to attempt a veto override. In this case, trying an override and failing is the least they could do. Considering the massive Democratic supermajorities in both houses of the Hawaii legislature, the only way a veto override could fail would be with the active complicity of multiple Hawaii Democratic legislators - who would then have to face a primary on September 18th and voters who would be positioned to punish them for it.

This is a 100% loss and a display of craven capitulation by the legislative leaders not just to Republicans, but to their own members who fear facing primary defeats for their regressive views.

Only the left protects anyone's rights.

Sad For Hawaii's Citizens (4.00 / 2)
...and it takes more than moral courage; it takes respect for others.  Something that Governor John Lynch showed he had by letting the discussion evolve, letting us show our faces and tell our stories, and then realizing that he just could not let the discrimination continue.

That's a lesson other leaders need to hear.

Amazing (4.00 / 1)
Not even separate but equal... it's amazing that they evidently think they'll get anywhere denying gays and lesbians even an alternative to government-provisioned marriage.
