"Hey Frank, What's in the Bank?"

by: Dean Barker

Wed Oct 13, 2010 at 06:14:39 AM EDT

The most important thing you can do today is to share NHPR's investigation into the $355,000 of mystery money that Frank Guinta injected into his campaign.

In particular, please note how he nervously refuses to answer a direct question on whether the money came from his parents.

New Hampshire deserves a Congressperson free from corruption, so the sooner Guinta clears this up, the better for the rest of us.

You know, where the money came from is no longer the issue. (0.00 / 0)
The issue is the candidate's inability to be honest and forth-coming and, in effect, taking the 5th Amendment.
The issue is also using the money, whether as a decoy or to flood the media with distracting and annoying advertising, to obscure the candidate's lack of qualifications.  If Frank can keep everyone fixated on the dollar sign over his head, the fact that he's a font of disinformation will be ignored and the clock will run out.  There's a reason why there's a time clock in basketball and football.
There should be a penalty for wasting the voters time during an electoral campaign.

Should Frank Giunta be penalized for failing to be frank and wasting the voters' time?

For that matter, should obstreperous Senators, who waste the American people's time be penalized?
Did you know that there is no appropriation for the Pentagon because the Senate refused to approve it?  Did you know that the reason for the refusal was the inclusion of a repeal of DADT?
Did you know that the provision which would permit military personnel covered by Tricare to include their children on the policy until age 26 has also not been approved because the repeal of DADT was attached?

Why are Republican candidates ranting about homosexuals?  Because they're trying to distract from the fact that our troops and their families are being held hostage by people who are hell bent on depriving homosexual public servants of their human rights.

It came from China (4.00 / 2)
Or Saudi Arabia, or the Taliban. It's a personal donation from the head of BP, in exchange for a vote. It's money from a military contractor that would like it's testing process "expedited".

See, the funny thing is we don't know.

My guess is it came from his parents and he is hiding that because it's potentially a felony. But frankly, that's the most CHARITABLE conclusion. This is why we have campaign finance law in the first place, and why we have to take Guinta's Magic Bank Account very seriously.

What are the legal implications? (0.00 / 0)
Do we know?

We know that Frank lied, which, as pointed out by Hannah, is a breach of public trust.  This is the most serious of issues.

But down the road, does Guinta think this just gets dropped?  I don't see that, and he probably doesn't either.  What's the end game here?

Guinta is holding his breath (0.00 / 0)
Someone should tell Frank that Nov.12th won't be the end of this ordeal for him.

Should he swear in, next January, wouldn't there be grounds for a House investigation? How does this work? Campaign finance allegations are kinda serious.

Puff Daddy Frank Guinta (4.00 / 2)
In the NHPR piece, Guinta says he was in "real estate development". That is puffery, to be kind.  The only record of his involvement in real estate, other than his personal residences, is buying a one unit residential rental property, and then selling it to buy a three family residential rental property. That is not real estate development. Real estate development involves actually developing real estate.

a slumlord to me.

Frank needs to come clean. We should all bring bars of soap to the next debate.

Soap (0.00 / 0)
A truly great idea. The media loves props like that. It will quickly and effectively communicate the message.

When and where is the next debate?

Come clean Frank (0.00 / 0)
It's an excellent idea, and it may be just what it takes to get real press coverage. NHPR has too small an audience to affect an election.

Come clean Frank signs and Ivory soap have enough to hand to the press as they arrive would get attention. Stick a mailing label with a short query - Come clean. Where did the money come from Frank? - on the back of the bar of soap.

The press loves props like this. The picture is too good to resist.

Don't know why I got a line through part of a sentence. Didn't mean to cross it out.

A job for Strafford Dem? (0.00 / 0)
A nice bar of soap with Frank's picture?
