What if Ovide Threw a Party and Nobody Came?

by: Dean Barker

Funny.

But what does he expect?  The primary is over, and the Republican nominees are rather busy right now pretending that they aren't the radical right-wingers they (and he) are.

Although Frank Guinta will be there.  He does enjoy the Manchester club scene.

JJ Dinner (4.00 / 1)
All of our candidates were at the JJ tonight, and they were fired up!

"When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on."  Franklin D. Roosevelt

Party, party, party -- (0.00 / 0)
that's what the modern Republicans are all about.  Both the candidates and the fans are in it for the glamour, a change from the humdrum world their misperception of reality creates.
Think about it.  Black and white photography is artistic because it shows us aspects of the real world we miss when we're seeing it in color.  So, Dorothy's adventure in the land of color was an escape into an imagined place that was really rather frightening and scary.  From a photographer/hunter's perspective, the absence of color in video camera's monitor, for example, "protects" whatever is hidden in the shadows and holding still.  If you don't have color to discriminate, you have to rely on motion.
Anyway, Republicans live in the land of OZ, a frightening and unsettling place where it's important to have sparkle and glamour to make them feel less afraid.

Do they use fear (0.00 / 0)
as a motivator because they really are afraid all the time, including being afraid of each other?  That would make sense.

I'm beginning to think so. (0.00 / 0)
If a person relies on "superficial optics" (as Dean has coined the term) for all their information and "appearances are deceiving," then the world must be an unreliable and scary place.  Makes people very tentative -- like a blind person trying to negotiate an unfamiliar environment.

What's puzzling is why people who are insecure are so opposed to social security.  Is it just a matter of, like the fox with the grapes, despising what can't be achieved?

"Return to Red in 2010" (4.00 / 2)
A strange slogan to have during a tough economy.

Better Dead Than Red? (4.00 / 1)
Honestly, I'd opt to be a GOPer before death. But, I'd definately be a RINO. Bet that!

If Republicans throw a party and no one shows up (4.00 / 1)
is it still a waste of time and money?
