Frank Guinta Has a Passion for Using Excess Money

by: Dean Barker

Tue Oct 19, 2010 at 06:11:17 AM EDT

Apparently said with a straight face:
Guinta said his focus would be to first pass a budget that is balanced and use any possible excess money created through spending cuts to pay off the state's debt, while at the same time working to ensure "each and every (elected official) is held accountable."
(He said this to the same Glenn Beck crowd he earlier told he didn't want his kids to know what Social Security is, btw.)

The man who injected $355,000 of excess money into his own campaign, but who refuses to hold himself accountable by showing a simple bank statement proving that the money is his and therefore legal, wants us to trust him with the balancing the federal budget. OK!

Take it away, former chair of the New Hampshire Republican Party:

Guinta says he simply forgot about the account. Would you forget about a bank account containing between $250,000 and $500,000?

Discussion of this account is relevant because members of Congress deal with sums of public money worth many, many times that. If Guinta can't keep track of his own money, how can he keep track of the federal budget?

Is Guinta really this dumb??? (4.00 / 1)
Guinta said his focus would be to first pass a budget that is balanced and use any possible excess money created through spending cuts to pay off the state's debt

Or has he perhaps forgotten what office he is running for?

He plans to balance the federal budget, then use the excess to pay off New Hampshire's debt?  Just how will he build a coalition in Congress to pass that sweetheart bill for our state? Especially when, having balanced the budget, you are still faced with a substantial federal debt?

(I'm not saying it's a bad idea, though, if he could make it work. Once Guinta starts refusing federal money to pay for projects like the bridge to Maine, and makes New Hampshire taxpayers pick up the whole tab, we'll need any extra help we can get.)

You need to adjust your preconceived notions. (0.00 / 0)
IF, for example, the U.S. had occupied Iraq and taken ownership of all its oil fields, not only would we have cut spending for our own energy needs, but by selling the excess to China, we could have bought back the debt we owe them.

You see, spending and cuts can be related.  They're just not related directly, as cause and effect.

There's a logic problem.  But, it's not one Frank invented.  It's spread like a virus throughout the Tea Party crowd.  For all I know, the billionaires are also infected.  Warren Stephens, from Little Rock, for example, is nattering about the sudden "partnership" between the Federal Reserve and banks that Dodd/Frank has supposedly created.  It makes no sense.

Glad you touched on it. (0.00 / 0)
I was going to mention it in the post, but didn't want to dilute the overall absurdity of his claiming to hold others accountable.

Yes, what on earth is he talking about with state v. federal???

Some people find excess money under the sofa cushions. (0.00 / 0)
Frank's hides in bank accounts he forgets about.

But, think for a minute about the process being referenced here:

excess money created through spending cuts

More does not, as a matter of course, issue out of less, unless you're talking about miracles like Jesus making wine by compressing the usual amount of time it takes for the transformation on the vine.
