On January 21, NH lost one of her finest, with the death of Don Booth. After Bush invaded Iraq, there was a peace vigil every day in front of the NH State House. Don and his wife Lois were among the regulars. Whether there was rain, snow, or subzero temps, there were always people out there vigiling for peace. Some days Don was the only one there, a frail, white haired man in a lawnchair, losing his voice, telling ME to go inside, I was going to catch cold out there.
Peace was truly Don's life's work. He was a conscientious objector during WWII, at a time when his stance must have been incredibly unpopular. Don never stopped - he truly lived his values.

Those of you who knew Don will get a little weepy (as I do) looking at these pictures on the NHPA website.
There will be a vigil tomorrow (Jan 24) afternoon in front of the State House at 5:30 pm, in remembrance of Don. Dress warmly, and bring a candle.
