Open Thread: Strange Days

by: William Tucker

Yesterday was a day for the record books. Calls for resignation, actual resignations, vicious threats -- and birthers. If you haven't read Dean's roundup of the day, head over to birch paper and do so. Nobody told me there'd be days like these. Strange days indeed.
This is an open thread.

PICKUP PATRIOTS SCOOP (4.00 / 4)
Republican Representative, Lee Quandt, (Exeter) has just been removed from the powerful NH HOUSE FINANCE COMMITTEE. Why? Why now?

Read Quandt's statements, made last week to Kevin Landrigan of The Telegraph and thelobbynh.com. It will be clear that Speakah "His Eminence" O'Brien expects his mini-me's to genuflect to the will of the leadership or he will cut them off at the knees. After all, in O'Brien's world the exercise of independent judgment is a character flaw. Slavish allegiance to the Speaker is demanded; the voters that elected you BE DAMNED!

Kevin Landrigan
Excerpts:

Quandt has stood out on the House Finance Committee as the only GOP member to oppose the overall budget and many individual, spending cuts attached to it.

A retired parole and probation officer, Quandt believes the assault on labor unions is going to backfire at the polls next year.

"My prediction based on what has happened so far is the Republicans will lose a minimum of 125 seats in the next election," Quandt said on the Exeter News Service blog late last week.

"I believe we have broken our word to the voters by the craziness of what is going on and the voters will not forget..."

Yours in hauling out the political trash,
