Answer Me These Questions Three

by: Mike Hoefer

Wed May 11, 2011 at 10:20:19 AM EDT

As we head in to the 2012 cycle we'd like to do our part to help encourage the participation of new voices in the affairs of our state. Also, we'd like to allow folks that have in the past (or may in the future be interested) in participating in state-wide leadership/politics/advocacy to introduce themselves to the Blue Hampshire community.

We are working on a standard set of three questions that we will invite people to answer here on BH as a sort of ongoing "Feature". Questions will be meaningful, but not so complex that people would hesitate to answer, or take weeks of writing to answer.

We anticipate that not only 'Principals' will be involved, but also key folks behind the scenes that make things happen in our state. Sort of a Who's Who's of NH Democratic and Progressive Politics.

My questions for you on this gray Tuesday (is it really May?) are:
-- Who would you like to hear from?
-- What ideas for questions do you have?
-- Would you be excited to see this sort of thing on Blue Hampshire?

The more voices the better. However, people who are willing to write on (0.00 / 0)
the web are few and far between.  And some people need an invitation to contribute writing.  So, if BH wants to promote writing, people have to be invited.
Speaking and hearing are very different from writing and reading and that difference has to be kept in mind.  Our educational system has, by and large, discouraged the former and encouraged the latter with rather mediocre results. Perhaps because the encouragement hasn't been strong enough.
I actually think that editorial review of submitted posts is helpful because it gives writers confidence that really stupid stuff won't be printed for everyone to see.

that is part of it (0.00 / 0)
formally inviting people to participate here

Great idea. (4.00 / 1)
1) I love hearing from Dem Reps Serlin and Roberts in real time on Twitter; it would be great to get D statehouse reps here to answer questions in a more expansive way.  Also mayors and such from cities and municipalities.  Maybe even staffers of federal offices/campaigns/state party.

2) Questions involving the future of progressive policies would be great, not simply how to resist and push back on today's crazy.

3) Yes, it would be great to see this from time to time.
