I've been perplexed by Speaker O'Brien's stunning statement quoted by NHPR and discussed in BlueHampshire Diary
"My caucus members are concerned that they are united that the Governor cannot function as a third branch of the legislature.
But, I think I figured it out! Perhaps they only watched the first 30 seconds of the School House Rock video where the boy fantasized about starting his own Three Ring Circus, and not the part about three equal but independent branches of government!
Joking aside, we should be united in our concern that according to the Speaker, the House Republican Caucus apparently does not understand the rights of the Executive Branch! The Legislative Branch can use its' rights and powers to attempt to override the veto, but to claim that the Governor is overstepping his bounds only serves to degrade peoples' perception of government.
Fortunately for us, it also makes them look ignorant of something most 3rd graders know.
