The NH Executive Council, aka moral majority

by: susanthe

The all male NH Executive Council has voted to cancel the state's contract with Planned Parenthood. Once again, our state's shame goes national. From HuffPo

New Hampshire lawmakers rejected multiple attempts to defund Planned Parenthood during the 2011 legislative session, voting repeatedly in favor of continuing to fund PPNNE using the state's federal family planning money. But the Executive Council, which oversees state contracting and generally stays out of hot-button political issues, overturned the decisions of both the state legislature and the Department of Health and Human Services with its 3-2 vote against Planned Parenthood.

So, now the Executive Council is a self-appointed guardian of public morality?  Am I alone in thinking this is a huge overreaching of their role in our state government?  One would think that the Teabaglican men would be more concerned about keeping future incubators in good health.

The three Councilors who voted against funding for Planned Parenthood said they did so because some of its clinics provide abortions, even though those abortions are entirely privately funded. Councilor Raymond Wieczorek of Manchester added that he opposed funding for birth control and condoms altogether.

"If they want to have a good time, why not let them pay for it?" he told the Concord Monitor last week.

I urge any woman who is considering "having a good time" with a Republican to choose abstinence. Permanently.

As horrible as it has been to watch this (4.00 / 3)
happen throughout the country, it's even worse when it's your own state.

This hits New Hampshire in its very soul - meaning, its wallet (4.00 / 4)
The rejection by the Executive Inquisition Council means New Hampshire loses federal funds.

Depriving others of things one doesn't want for oneself is the (0.00 / 0)
deprivator's stock in trade.  It's spouse abuse writ large.

That said, if humans are to be a natural resource, disposable and able to be laid waste at will (as in fungible troops), then planned parenthood is a serious impediment.  Because, if humans plan to become parents, then it's much less likely that they'll volunteer their off-spring to be fungible troops and/or sacrifice them for the honor and glory of the nation.

Then too, unplanned pregnancies produce a steady stream of children available for adoption or placement in foster care, a nice little industry in itself.  Michelle Bachmann, a professional foster parent to some 20 children no doubt appreciated the $600 per month per child stipend that Minnesota "contributes" for their care. Such money comes in handy when your spouse is a flakey "christian" counselor whose services are paid for by medicaid.

note to close readers: this might be sarcastic so think twice before reading to candidates for use in their attacks on each other

This is what the GOPer/CONs have always been....They want total freedom for the top 10% and then will tell all others how to live-------and vote----and work----and ----and----
