HRC and LOGO to host political forum

by: EqualityPress

Thu Jul 12, 2007 at 10:43:09 AM EDT

Great news! For the first time ever the Human Rights Campaign and the LOGO cable network will be hosting a Presidential forum to discuss GLBT issues.
EqualityPress :: HRC and LOGO to host political forum
HRC?s communications director, Brad Luna, had this to say:
?This forum gives the Human Rights Campaign another unique opportunity to educate our community on where the candidates stand on issues most important to our daily lives. To have a chance, for the first time ever, to broadcast this type of forum out to thousands of fair-minded Americans is truly groundbreaking and historic.?

So far, Hilary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards and Chris Dodd have committed to being present. Be sure to watch this this on LOGO on August 9th, 2007 at 6pm. If you do not have LOGO find a friend that does! If you do have LOGO? there is still plenty of time to plan a party!

Cool! (4.00 / 1)
I am very pleased that there will be a debate focusing on issues of concern to the GLBT community.

I have Logo, so I'll be sure to watch.

They should stream it over the internet, too, if they want a wider audience.  Logo is only available on Digital Cable or Satelite TV, I think.

Well, this answers it: (0.00 / 0)
The one-hour event will be held on Aug. 9 at 6 p.m. PT / 9 p.m. ET in Los Angeles before a studio audience and broadcast live, without commercial interruption, exclusively on Logo?s 24/7 cable television channel as well as through live streaming video at LOGOonline.com.

According to the linked article, only Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have so far agreed to participate.  Do you have a link to updated information?

NH LGBT Debate watch parties? (4.00 / 3)
The NHDP Stonewall Democrats met this past Sunday at the NHDP offices in Concord. Nearly two dozen people attended and created a preliminary action plan. Co-Chairs Rep. Ed Butler and Rep. Gail Morrison did a terrific job. Okay, enough bragging...what I really wanted to mention was that we are encouraging LGBT Democrats in NH to host a Debate Watch party and invite their friends to watch the LOGO/HRC debate. If you are interested in further information or want to let us know you are hosting one please contact NHDP Political Director Delana Jones at either DJones@nhdp.org or 603-225-6899.

PS - The HRC will be opening a NH office within the next month.

I'd offer to host one by I don't really have enough space to host that sort of thing in by living room / kitchen / bedroom...

I'll at least get a live blog up here on BH.

that would be great -- should we start advertising this? I feel I didn't always let people know early enough we'd be live blogging...Maybe it's time for a housekeeping post that mentions it.

Its a month away... (0.00 / 0)
I think we should be sure to mention it in the open threads for the week or two before.  That way most of our readers will know its coming.

I thought.... (0.00 / 0)
you were talking about Hillary Rodham Clinton- "opening an office" clarified--

Cod,

First, why in the world would you think that I would call anyone "the..."?

Secondly, why in the world would you think that I would announce the opening of ANY primary candidate's office?

put it in the category of having been awake since 4:30 and little sleep before then- I was talking about the first time I read it- half asleep- and specifically the title-

Plus, I was thinking about gearing up to see Hillary at 9 this morning in Keene-

I am pretty familiar with the Human Rights Campaign otherwise

Office for what? (0.00 / 0)
HRC office for what? The primaries, or permanent? It's good either way, I'm just curious ~

Good question (0.00 / 0)
But its not place to speak for the Human Rights Campaign. I do encourage you to communicate with the terrific Heather Gibson at Heather.Gibson@HRC.org. Heather has been a top NH political and healthcare organizer for years. Last year she did a superb job running Kathy Sgambati's upset win for state senator. Heather is very talented.
