Okay- the last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind- with visits to newly found Alaska blogs, reading about money taken for bridges to nowhere, moose stew, and creationsism.
But this election is not about Sarah Palin. For anyone to make the decision be about her, or about her qualifications, is to fall for the Rovian strategy. You have to hand it to him and McCain- it was a good move- caught everyone off guard in multiple ways.
I strongly recommend Andrew Sullivan's post today, about how far John McCain has fallen.
here
I ask because I am still undecided- still in flux between a few people, and not to the point I can work for anyone.
I thought by this point I would have- less than two months from the primary-
How about you? I seem to keep coming across people who have been very active in previous elections who are not declaring, and if they have decided, are not working on a campaign.
If you are undeclared- why?& Were you leaning towards someone but changed your mind?
Who are you still considering- or not remotely considering-
Ok, so Poll after poll shows that this NH primary election is so over- Hillary in a landslide, inevitable, how does she match up against Romney/McCain, Giuliani??
But as a former strong Dean supporter last time around, I remember the poor local Kerry organizer who had little to work with- no one I knew strongly supported him at this point in 2003.
So, whenever I hear discussions about how the race is between Obama and Clinton- I roll my eyes. And I have been doing that a lot lately.
I do not know anyone who is deciding between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.
Obama and Edwards- yes.
Clinton and Richardson- yes.
Other combos too-
Most everyone I know is undecided, or not strongly committed. Last time around, many more were working actively for Dean or Edwards or Clark-
So how about you- do you see Hillary as the inevitable nominee- or do you see it as a horse race between Hillary and Barack? Is it that way for you?
So here it is the day after Scooter's commutation. The chorus of repubs is shouting Clinton did this too and worse- remember Mark Rich?
Of course the implication is they all do it= Bush is no worse than anyone else. So it is okay.
As July 4th approaches, I'd like to make a list of all the ethical lapses, scandals, and misdeeds of this administration. i know it is a lot of work, but anticipating a slow news cycle, we have the time.
So, Blue Hampshirites, let's hear it. Is this the most ethically devoid administration in history? Let's make a list to prove it. I'd like to request using numbers too -
OK- I like to know what everyone is saying, so I am on the GOP maling list. Today I received this little beauty in my inbox:
Tell NH Democrats they have gone Too Far, Too Fast!
Sign our Petition Today!
What a difference an election makes. Governor Lynch?s Democratic majority has gone Too Far, Too Fast in promoting radical changes to the economic and social fabric of our state.
See what others are saying about the ?Too Far, Too Fast? petition and send your own message to John Lynch and his Democratic majority by signing it today!
?I signed the Too Far, Too Fast petition because the New Hampshire we know and love is in danger unless we take action today!? ? Wayne MacDonald, Vice-Chairman NH GOP
"I signed this petition because on so many issues, from the hot buttons to the absurd, the Democrat-led NH government has taken a sudden, dramatic, yet predictable turn for the worse. For a moment, I thought that I'd accidentally moved to the People's Republic of Taxachusetts." - James Mojonnier, NH small business owner
?Lynch made the commitment to solve the education issue. He asked for a demoratic majority to help him do so. He got it and he has failed. Instead of working with Governor Lynch, the Concord Crazies have pushed a radical social and spending agenda that he either can't stop or won't stop. It is time we had a governor that is committed to holding the line on spending and will invest political and personal capital in solving the education issue. On the most pressing issue of the day, Governor Lynch has come up short.? ? Kerry Marsh, Chair NH Young Republicans
'm signing the petition because New Hampshire's Democrats have it all wrong. They are raising taxes, increasing spending, and encroaching on personal liberty. Their policies are burdening the state's people without regard for the future, and they need to be stopped. As William F. Buckley, Jr. once said, "The best defense against usurpatory government is an assertive citizenry." It is incumbent on us, at this moment in time, to heed those words.? ? Gregory Boguslavsky, Chair NH College Republicans
?I signed the ?Too Far, Too Fast? petition because John Lynch and his Democratic majority have not met a tax they don?t like!? ? Kelly Hurst
Of course, I could not help clicking to see what the petition actually said:
* I BELIEVE the strength of our nation lies with the individual and that each person's dignity, freedom, ability and responsibility must be honored.
* I BELIEVE in equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, creed, sex, age or disability.
* I BELIEVE free enterprise and encouraging individual initiative have brought this nation opportunity, economic growth and prosperity.
* I BELIEVE government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of the money they earn.
* I BELIEVE the proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations, and that the best government is that which governs least.
* I BELIEVE the most effective, responsible and responsive government is government closest to the people.
* I BELIEVE Americans must retain the principles that have made us strong while developing new and innovative ideas to meet the challenges of changing times.
* I BELIEVE Americans value and should preserve our national strength and pride while working to extend peace, freedom and human rights throughout the world.
* Finally, I BELIEVE the Republican Party is the best vehicle for translating these ideals into positive and successful principles of government.
"
Note from Mike: Given Ray Buckley's comment below, I used my managing editor superpowers to edit the title (hope you don't mind codfish!). Second note: I love it that when we post news stories about people here, that those people actually have a chance to correct them.
Original story follows:
I just heard on NHPR that Ray Buckley has announced might seek the party charimanship.
Okay- in 2004, for me, the election was only about the resolution to go into Iraq. I was strongly for Dean, because that was THE issue for me. Kerry and Edwards I wrote off for their votes granting Bush power to invade, and the fact they voted for NCLB and the Patriot Act didn't help their casue with me.
Clark- I didn't trust him due to never having party affiliation previously, though I grew to greatly respect and admire him.
I realize many of the possible candidates were not in congress at the time- but we know what their public positions were.
Considering the candidates we have so far, how important is their stance about the war in 2003 in your decision now on choosing a primary candidate?
