Bircher Blues

Carroll County House District 2 covers the towns of Albany, Eaton, and Madison. This district used to be represented by the hard working and well respected Representative Bob Bridgham of Eaton. In 2010, a toxic red tide swept through our state, and anyone who had an "R" next to their name was elected. Such was the case in this district. The toxicity was at such an extreme level, that voters in this district voted in a young man from Madison named Norman Tregenza. The most frequent comment about Norm is, "He's such a nice young man, and so polite."

Norm's a member of the John Birch Society. That was NOT on his campaign literature. That salient detail was never reported by the local newspaper, except for the op-eds I mentioned it in. Norm's also a member of the lucky sperm club. Born into a well-to-do family, he's had plenty of time to read Ayn Rand, and worship at the altar of von Mises, and Ron Paul, while working p/t as a substitute teacher.

susanthe :: Bircher Blues
This year, Norm's sponsoring a bunch of bills. None of them have anything to do with his committee, Fish & Game and Marine Resources, but most of them have a great deal to do with his brand of Bircher ideology.

HOUSE BILL 1254

AN ACT establishing a committee to study the effect of illegal immigration on the state and its political subdivisions.
SPONSORS: Rep. Duarte, Rock 1; Rep. Tamburello, Rock 3; Rep. Tregenza, Carr 2; Rep.Renzullo, Hills 27; Rep. Rappaport, Coos 1; Rep. Cox, Merr 6

One of his co-sponsors is Rappaport, the birther. A birther and a Bircher is a match made in a very warm place, redolent of sulpher.

HOUSE BILL 1383

AN ACT relative to residency status for the purpose of receiving in-state tuition status within the university system of New Hampshire.
SPONSORS: Rep. Duarte, Rock 1; Rep. Mirski, Graf 10; Rep. Tamburello, Rock 3; Rep.Rappaport, Coos 1; Rep. Cox, Merr 6; Rep. Tregenza, Carr 2; Rep. Reagan, Rock 1

Don't in-state students have to be residents of the state? Hmmm:

ANALYSIS

This bill requires that students receiving in-state tuition status within the university system of New Hampshire also be legal residents of the United States.

I guess Tregenza, Rappaport and the rest of the gang weren't quite daring enough to stipulate that these legal residents also be white, but the intent is clear.

Norm has also filed 5 resolutions:

HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 32

A RESOLUTION to urge the Congress of the United States to withdraw the membership of the United States from the United Nations so that the United States may retain its sovereignty and control over its own funds and military forces.
SPONSORS: Rep. Tregenza, Carr 2

HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 34

A RESOLUTION urging Congress to withdraw the United States from the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in accordance with Article 2205 of the agreement.
SPONSORS: Rep. Tregenza, Carr 2

HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 36

A RESOLUTION urging Congress to amend or repeal legislation expanding the constitutionally delegated powers of federal government.
SPONSORS: Rep. Duarte, Rock 1; Rep. Mirski, Graf 10; Rep. Tamburello, Rock 3; Rep. Rappaport, Coos 1; Rep. Cox, Merr 6; Rep. Reagan, Rock 1; Rep. Tasker, Rock 1; Rep. Tregenza, Carr 2; Rep. Pitre, Straf 3

HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 37

A RESOLUTION urging Congress to pass legislation against losses in value due to money supply by the federal reserve; restoring gold and silver money; and phasing out the federal reserve system.
SPONSORS: Rep. Tregenza, Carr 2; Rep. Duarte, Rock 1; Rep. Mirski, Graf 10; Rep.Ingbretson, Graf 5; Rep. Comerford, Rock 9; Rep. Sorg, Graf 3; Sen.Forsythe, Dist 4

Gold! Austria!

HOUSE RESOLUTION 25

A RESOLUTION affirming States' powers based on the Constitution for the United States and the Constitution of New Hampshire.
SPONSORS: Rep. Itse, Rock 9; Rep. Comerford, Rock 9; Rep. Lambert, Hills 27; Rep. Pratt, Hills 7; Rep. Seidel, Hills 20; Rep. Sova, Graf 10; Rep. E. Hogan, Hills 25; Rep. Sorg, Graf 3; Rep. Tregenza, Carr 2

Finally, Rep. Tregenza has filed CACR 20:

RELATING TO: meetings of the general court.

PROVIDING THAT: the general court shall meet biennially.

SPONSORS: Rep. Tregenza, Carr 2

But...

CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 33

RELATING TO: biennial legislative sessions.

PROVIDING THAT: the general court shall meet biennially.

SPONSORS: Sen. White, Dist 9; Sen. Boutin, Dist 16; Sen. Bragdon, Dist 11; Sen.DeBlois, Dist 18; Sen. Forsythe, Dist 4; Sen. Gallus, Dist 1; Sen.Lambert, Dist 13; Sen. Luther, Dist 12; Rep. Avard, Hills 20; Rep.K.Murphy, Hills 18 Rep. Gimas, Hills 12; Rep. Pepino, Hills 11

Is this such a fabulous idea that we need 2 Constitutional Amendments that say the same thing? Do these people not talk to each other? Do they not like Norm Tregenza?

At a cost of approx. $1500 per bill, Norm's wasting a lot of taxpayer money. Of course it may be that the US House is just breathlessly waiting to hear from the NH House before bringing back the gold standard.

the two CACR's (0.00 / 0)
The two similar CACR's have slightly different wording.  Tregenza's amendement (CACR 20) says"

"Are you in favor of amending article 3 and article 15 of the second part of the constitution so that these articles read as follows:

[Art.] 3. [General Court, When to Meet and Dissolve.] The senate and house shall assemble biennially on the first Wednesday of December for organizational purposes in even numbered years, and following their organization they shall assemble on the first Wednesday following the first Tuesday in January, and at such other times as they may judge necessary; and shall dissolve and be dissolved at 12:01 A.M. on the first Wednesday of December in even numbered years and shall be styled The General Court of New Hampshire.

[Art.] 15. [Compensation of the Legislature.] The presiding officers of both houses of the legislature, shall severally receive out of the state treasury as compensation in full for their services for the term elected the sum of $250, and all other members thereof, seasonably attending and not departing without license, the sum of $200 and each member shall receive mileage for actual daily attendance on legislative days, but not after the legislature shall have been in session for 45 legislative days or after the first day of July following the annual biennial assembly of the legislature, whichever occurs first; provided, however, that, when a special session shall be called by the governor or by a 2/3 vote of the then qualified members of each branch of the general court, such officers and members shall receive for attendance an additional compensation of $3 per day for a period not exceeding 15 days and the usual mileage. Nothing herein shall prevent the payment of additional mileage to members attending committee meetings or on other legislative business on nonlegislative days."

Teh other one (CACR 33) is sponsored by Se. White and has many cosponsors including the Senate President says:

"Are you in favor of amending article 3 of the second part of the constitution to read as follows:

[Art.] 3. [General Court, When to Meet and Dissolve.] The senate and house shall assemble biennially on the first Wednesday of December for organizational purposes and, following their organization, they shall assemble on the first Wednesday following the first Tuesday in January, and at such other times as they may judge necessary; and shall dissolve and be dissolved at 12:01 A.M. on the first Wednesday of December biennially and shall be styled The General Court of New Hampshire."

sitting state rep: running for re-election in 2012.

Conservatives are on a power trip. They think that's what (0.00 / 0)
getting elected to public office is about--an opportunity to tell other people what to do.
One suspects that various personal deficiencies have resulted in them being told what to do all their lives and they just want to get revenge.
That holding public office represents a passel of obligations doesn't register because they don't know what obligations are. They still haven't been properly weaned.

Free enterprise, it turns out, means being suckled at the public teat for free.

On gay marriage (0.00 / 0)
He told those in attendance that he's opposed to government being in the bisness of marriage and he's drawing the line at gay marriage. He's not proposing legislation that would take the State out of all marriages though because its not one of his priority's, obviously he has more important work to do.
