(Somebody from around here needs to apply! Really you should! - promoted by Mike Hoefer)
Last year, for the first time, I was lucky enough to attend Netroots Nation. I'd been hearing about it since 2006 when I was an intern on the Hodes for Congress Campaign and Laura Clawson (who many of you know co-founded Blue Hampshire, but at the time was covering the race on her own blog), went to Yearly Kos and came back with incredible stories.
The allure of Netroots Nation only grew from there.
Then last year when I was hired by Democracy for America, and had the opportunity to run our annual Netroots Nation Scholarship Competition. In June, I traveled to Minneapolis for NN11 where I not only learned an awful lot (and had fun doing it) but was inspired and motivated by many of the bloggers and activists who attended -- including dozens of DFA scholars.
This year, we're offering 40 scholarships again, and with NN12 taking place in Providence, I'm hoping that a number of Blue Hamsters will be able to join me there.
The first round of the NN12 Scholarship Contest ends on March 21st. You can apply or nominate someone else who you think deserves a scholarship.
The first round ends next Wednesday, March 21st. After that there are two more rounds. The applicants with the most votes at the end of each round will automatically win, and the remaining scholars will be chosen by the selection committee.
We're looking for bloggers and activists who are committed to their cause, who will bring an important perspective to Netroots Nation, and who would otherwise not be able to attend, because unfortunately Netroots Nation is expensive.
The scholarship covers the registration fee and 5 nights of hotel so that you can get as much as possible out of the conference.
Apply now!
If you have any questions about the contest itself, please leave a comment here, or email nn12 AT Democracyforamerica DOT com.
