Turn on, Tune In, Drop By

Good news, NH. Concord has a new community radio station. WNHN, 94.7 FM.

The mission statement:

To give a platform for music and voices not often heard on New Hampshire radio, NHNVB Inc. was formed in August 2011.  We serve the greater Concord, NH area with our broadcast FM signal, and open-minded listeners throughout New Hampshire via syndicated programs and the web.

Arnie Arneson debuts her show this week, from 11-1, Monday through Friday, offering up a somewhat different take than we usually get via NH radio/media. Those of you who  remember "Political Chowder" know what I mean.

Those of us who don't live in range can stream the show over the tubes. The Democracy Now news hour comes on after Arnie's show.

Through the WNHN website or their FBpage, we all have an opportunity to comment, and make suggestions for the future.

Radio for the rest of us!

Our own Rep. Cyndy Chase is going to be on this morning, talking about this.

Arnie's Show (0.00 / 0)

It was great fun doing Arnie's show.  Unfortunately we never got around to discussing contraception but not to worry.  Arnie has asked me back to have that discussion later this spring.  We did talk about ALEC which is a big concern of mine, and she got me to talk a bit about myself and how I ended up in the NH House.

Somebody should prepare segments of the President's weekly message (0.00 / 0)
to be streamed on the radio.  The messages are available on the White House site in audio format (mp3), but even though they're only about 5 minutes, I think that's still too long for easy digestion by people who only listen.  Listening is a more direct avenue to the brain and perhaps that's why it takes longer to process.  If there's too much information, it tends to go in one ear and out the other without stopping. We need the information to go in, get processed and then come out of the mouth to go in someone else's ear.

Rep. Lee Quandt (0.00 / 0)
is on right now. Good stuff.

How far does the signal reach? (0.00 / 0)
While I'm looking forward to being able to stream progressive radio from my home state, I'm wondering if I'll be able to tune in when I'm visiting home in Manchester?

probably not (0.00 / 0)
community radio stations usually have about a 3 mile range. They're called LPFM - low power FM frequency radio stations. It's a non-commercial enterprise.

Woo hoo! (4.00 / 1)
Arnie is awesome.  Glad to see that they have plans to offer streaming audio on the site.  Plus, it's downloadable in Ogg Vorbis, that's pretty progressive of them.  (In the technological sense, not the political sense. :^)
