Polling the Edwards Crowd

by: Douglas E. Lindner

Fri Feb 01, 2008 at 15:56:09 PM EST

So the big talk of the pre-Super Tuesday coverage is whether Edwards supporters will split, go for Obama, or go for The Clintons.  I know a number of our fellow Hamsters, unlike me, have chosen to remain neutral after their respective candidates dropped out, but Edwards supporters, please take a moment to consider, if you were a Super Tuesday voter, who would you choose?

Obviously, this is on the honor system, but if John Edwards was not your #1 choice a week ago, PLEASE DO NOT VOTE!.  I'm not voting, because I wasn't an Edwards supporter.  Please don't screw this up, I know the rest of us have our favorites, but we all want a sense of where the Edwards crowd will go.  If you were a supporter of a different candidate and started supporting Edwards when your candidate dropped out, please DO vote.

By the way, I have omitted "neither" on purpose.  I seriously doubt any of you would refrain from voting, so let us know who you would vote for.

If you want to see the results, click on the link that says "results."  VOTING IS ONLY FOR EDWARDS PEOPLE!

After 6 votes in this extremely unscientific poll, (0.00 / 0)
100% of Edwards supporters who chose to participate said they would vote for Senator Obama over Senator Clinton.

Here's hoping Edwards folks in Super Tuesday states agree.

Not so fast... (4.00 / 1)
I'm seeing a lot of my fellow Edwards supporters leaning toward Obama.  Mostly the younger and on-line crowd, Facebook Friends, LGBT folks, the moveon.org types, educated or elites, however you like to label them.

I'm just not ready to go there fully just yet.  The videos are nice, I LOVE the charisma and energy.  I love the symbolism and idea of Obama.  I still wish there was more there on the specifics side of things.  John Edwards spoiled me.

I do know an Edwards supporter or 2 leaning Clinton-side, too, but not nearly as many.  Folks I know are a little urked by Bill's behavior, but prefer he health care policy over Obama's.

I've said two things all along: I'll support the nominee, whomever that may be.  AND, if you want my vote, play nice.  How a candidate & his/her supporters act here and elsewhere in defeat as well as victory matters to me.

Good luck tomorrow to everyone.  This is STILL so much more fun than inevitability, even if my guy is out.

Completly agree (4.00 / 1)
My analogy is cereal -

republicans = Fruit Loops (bad for you)
Hillary & Barack = New Improved Corn Flakes - (same old cereal not too bad but not real good - different box)
Edwards = All Bran (good for you but not all that exciting)

standing on the sidelines looking for a reason to enter the fray.

Surely Obama is at least Raisin Bran? (0.00 / 0)

Well Cheerios can help lower your cholesterol in so many weeks blah blah blah, so that means you think an Obama Presidency would be medicinal! (0.00 / 0)

Breakfast of Champions? (4.00 / 1)
Hey SMucci, maybe I am showing my age a bit, but I found Mr. All Bran pretty damn exciting.  I'd say he's more like a generic no-name cereal, no marketing and jazziness, but a great deal!!

You are making me hungry!

Happy Super Tuesday, Everyone!!  Drive safely out there!

So it's an age thing, then? (0.00 / 0)
I guess that explains why I was so excited by JRE myself. And, despite the Froot Loops humor, I actually prefer several varieties of Kashi or good old Grape Nuts (me and Euell Gibbons, right?) these days, so that definitely puts me more in the All Bran camp.

Slightly (but not much) off topic: I'm still having a LOT of trouble with all of this being so OVER so SOON! I heard Smilin' George Steph. on the tube this morning sighing over the possibility that if today's results are not definitive on the Dem side then the campaigning could go on for a "very long time", as if they all just wanted to get it over with.

I wanted to reach through the glass and grab his little Mickey Mouse Club neck and shout, "It's only the first freakin' week of FEBRUARY, you moron!".

Then my wife gave me that look that she gives me when I've been talking back to the TV again...

Can we at least all agree that Kucinich is Kashi? (0.00 / 0)

Not so sure about the other cereals but (0.00 / 0)
Kucinich is Kashi? Definitely.
