John E. Sununu, Jr. on the Daily Show - tonight

by: susanthe

Thu Feb 12, 2009 at 18:12:35 PM EST

NH's very own John E Sununu, Jr. will be the guest of Jon Stewart tonight on the Daily Show. I never saw him as a fun guy (more like a fungi) so this should be interesting.

11 pm on your teevee!

(Dean): Here's an embed (took forever to get it to embed):

Taped before all the news, no? n/t (0.00 / 0)

I don't know (4.00 / 1)
how late in the day they tape it.

And Paul Hodes on Rachel Maddow (4.00 / 2)
I can't wait for the Presidential primary season. Maybe then we'll get some relief from the media.

Will watch on Hulu tomorrow (0.00 / 0)
people like me sans cable or dish just see it later on the little screen.

Watching it now. (0.00 / 0)
They're talking about it.

O, ya (0.00 / 0)
Hes running for Senate again.

You have to watch the interview later if your not watching it now.

she talks for 3:45 then Congressman Hodes appears

Stewart v. Sununu on the hypocrisy of Republicans finding fiscal restraint NOW. (4.00 / 5)
John E. Sununu: This is a trillion dollar stimulus bill.  A trillion dollars.
Jon Stewart: I know, but we spent seven hundred billion dollars in Iraq! Why can't we build our country?
(cheering)
Sununu: We have a five hundred billion dollar deficit.
Stewart: Here's my idea--
Sununu: No one's against building the country.
Stewart: Here's my idea. I have weapons of mass destruction.  Invade me.
Sununu: (stammering)...where's the money gonna come from?

And that, my friends, is how you win a debate in American politics.

Best part (0.00 / 0)
That was the best part of the interview.

Sununu was just awful, and it looked like he packed on a few post-congress pounds...

Why in the world would John E. Sununu (0.00 / 0)
appear on the show??

He's not selling a book. I can't see any scenario in which this could have helped him.

yikes - that was embarrassing (4.00 / 2)
The GOP is trying new strategies to "connect" - they've started tweeting on the 'tubes -  maybe this was an attempt to show that they're cool, hip guys - so they sent their version of a young Republican - who was about as cool and hip as a leisure suit. I don't know. I can't imagine even Republicans thinking Johnny came out looking good on this show.

[ Parent ]
Oh my... (4.00 / 2)
I fell asleep before he came on and so I just watched the link.

Holy smokes, there is simply no way anyone could possibly spin that this was a good move by John E.

So much for being "smart".

Democrats solve problems, Republicans sit and say no.

[ Parent ]
Sununu is lucky that Stewart doesn't like direct confrontation. (0.00 / 0)
Stewart kept referring to Bush-era Republicans in Congress as "they", and not "you".  That was very generous of him.

SUNUNUS (4.00 / 5)
He lies out of both sides of his face, as only a palindrome could.

And then reflect on the Beltway description of John E. as "the smartest man in the Senate."
