Livestream: Obama's Speaks to Joint Session of Congress

by: Dean Barker

Tue Feb 24, 2009 at 20:32:55 PM EST

Embed removed post-speech.  I'm allergic to the right-wing spin right out of the gate from FOX's coverage.
Congrats to Hulu for providing one of the easiest embeds around (except for streaming FOX - why would NBC's Hulu do that?).

And here's an advance excerpt:

And I think about Ty'Sheoma Bethea, the young girl from that school I visited in Dillon, South Carolina - a place where the ceilings leak, the paint peels off the walls, and they have to stop teaching six times a day because the train barrels by their classroom.  She has been told that her school is hopeless, but the other day after class she went to the public library and typed up a letter to the people sitting in this room.  She even asked her principal for the money to buy a stamp.  The letter asks us for help, and says, "We are just students trying to become lawyers, doctors, congressmen like yourself and one day president, so we can make a change to not just the state of South Carolina but also the world.  We are not quitters."

welcome, everyone! (4.00 / 2)
Isn't it nice NOT to see The Dick behind our President!

Happy speech, hampsters.

No 'S' Justices? (0.00 / 0)
Scalia, Stevens, Souter?

"Why would NBC's Hulu do that?" (4.00 / 1)
Hulu is a joint venture between NBC and Fox.  Luckily, the President doesn't pause for commercials, so having the FOX logo on the pool video is largely inconsequential.

Thx. Thought it was NBC only. n/t (0.00 / 0)

I think it's actually more complicated than just NBC and FOX, too. Deals with other companies, etc. (0.00 / 0)
I'm not sure how the distribution deals work, but I was a beta tester and it's come a long way in terms of how well it works.  It used to pause for buffering enough that it was a very unpleasant way to watch anything.

I wondered if Bobby Jindal was unprincipled enough (4.00 / 2)
to lead the GOP.

Attacking funds for volcano monitoring puts my doubts to rest.

People who live behind glass levees... (4.00 / 4)
So, "Bobby," you wanna cut out the libs' wasteful government spending on fancy "monitoring" of so-called "natural disasters"?

How about we start with hurricane monitoring?

No?

Then STFU.

I said that (0.00 / 0)
to my daughter, last night.

Jindal better chickedy-check hizself, before he wrecks hizself.
