The Smartest Man on Multiple Boards

by: Dean Barker

Shorter DiStaso & Smith:
Please don't buy into Chris Cillizza's narrative.  The Sprintin' Sununu Board Game definitely has a "Proceed Directly to Nomination, Courtesy John H." card in the box.

I guess Andy Smith (4.00 / 3)
is speaking as a pal of Sununu, rather than as a pollster or pundit.

A pundit might talk about the political downside of being on the payroll of big corporations. A pundit might observe that Sununu has made himself unable to speak convincingly on the major issues of the day.

A pollster might look back at his own polls and ask whether these new gigs address any of the weaknesses those polls showed. (Hint: Nuh-uh.)

But a pal would just use the media to say, "Don't count Johnny out!"

Or even two pals (0.00 / 0)
who could utilize the roles of reporter and political scientist to push back against the almighty Friday Senate Line.

Proceed DIRECTLY to Nomination? (0.00 / 0)
Do not pass go, do not collect several hundred thousand dollars from banks within the jurisdiction of your TARP oversight board?

I think not.

thanks, Andy (0.00 / 0)
for the kind of trenchant, incisive political commentary we've come to expect from you.

It sure sounds as if SonE is going to be handed the crown and scepter.

Title of this one cracks me up (4.00 / 1)
Isn't there a rule about not becoming a lobbyist for a certain period after leaving office? How about one for not joining boards, which is roughly equivalent?

you make an outstanding point. (4.00 / 2)
With the evolution of ethics rules for lobbyists comes an evolution on how powerful interests can still control DC influence.

John E.'s on the cutting edge of the New Lobbying - Boarding!
