I've been trying for the past hour to put together a list of all the people on this site that deserve a standing ovation, and the list keeps getting longer and longer, and I keep worrying more and more that I'm forgetting someone. To all those who stood for the civil right of the freedom to marry, from citizen to politician, thank you.
But some of the phone calls and comments I've heard and seen today give me pause, and I need to make something perfectly clear about Blue Hampshire. Here, I'll put it in bold and blockquote so it's easy to read:
We Are Not The New Hampshire Democratic Party Newsletter
When public servants earn praise, we praise, such as with the passage of amended HB436. When they earn criticism, we criticize, such as the vote to label HB436 "Inxepedient to Legislate" in judiciary. This forum exists in part for that very purpose.
And I'm often most proud of when we have the strength of mind and principle on this site to speak candidly about policy positions of not only the other side, but of the party to which we belong.
And I firmly believe that the great coalition of voices expressed here - from former party chairs to bishops to advocacy groups to libertarians, and most importantly, to everyday people such as you and me - in support of marriage equality had an effect on the passage of it.
This makes me prouder of this community than you can possibly know.
