STOP THE MASS. INVASION!!!

by: Dean Barker

Wed May 06, 2009 at 20:53:09 PM EDT

So Mittens is moving up to his vacation home to become a real live Granite Stater. A nice faux home base advantage for the primary, no doubt.

No word yet on how the family dog will be transported to the new digs.

And does this mean he will no longer have access to the Massachusetts police as his personal lakefront security?

The receipts from the interest and dividends tax will be rising! But I wonder how he will like having John H. Sununu as his party spokesman....

Mittens treats NH political figures with great respect!

But seriously: as the biggest GOPer to make the least unforced errors in recent months, he has earned frontrunner status, imo.  Of course, when you're playing against Jindal and Sarah! and Sanford and Perry, it's an odd scene at best.

Do you have residency requirements? Maybe he wants to run against Lynch illegitimately like he ran here. (He ignored a seven-year residency Constitutional requirement.) I'll never fully forgive the Globe and Herald for letting him get away with it because they wanted a race to cover.

following the trend of GOP demotions (4.00 / 3)
look for Mitt to become a Wolfeboro selectman soon. Marge Webster will be very happy.

Mitt's a very observant man .... (4.00 / 2)
... he saw how effective moving to Manchester was for Joe Lieberman back in the 2004 New Hampshire Primary ... so why shouldn't Mitt put his hand-in-the-till, right?

And Dodd moving to Iowa in '07. (4.00 / 3)
I'm not a fan of the moving to the primary state thing.  If it's really easier than hotels, I'm not against it, but they use it to make it seem like they're now residents of the state they're campaigning in.  It's not even dishonest, because everybody knows what they're doing; nobody expects a Senator from Connecticut to stay a New Hampshirite/Iowan after the primary season, and nobody cares that Mitt Romney changed his official residence to his vacation home.  How many homes does he have again?

Welcome, Governor Romney! (4.00 / 2)
As you know, New Hampshire is still mourning the loss a few years ago of our Great Stone Face, the Old Man of the Mountains made famous by Hawthorne and others. We are looking at ways of somehow commemorating or even restoring the site.

It occurs to me that you might have a face to spare?
