Discover....Ovide?

by: Kathy Sullivan 2

Thu Aug 20, 2009 at 11:21:55 AM EDT

(Funny. - promoted by Dean Barker)

Ovide Lamontagne has a new web site up. Like Kelly Ayotte, Ovide is exploring a race for the United States Senate. I will be curious to see how much energy they will have if they actually ever start running - they will be awfully tired from all that exploring.

Anyway, Ovide's web site is called discoverovide.com, which may be the worst name for a political web site - ever. When first hearing it, if you did not know who Ovide was, you would be forgiven for thinking that "Ovide" must be a previously unpublicized vacation island in the Caribbean, or perhaps a small resort town in the south of France, or a rustic village near Tremblant. But, instead, apparantly Ovide would like us to discover him while he is exploring. Something to keep all of us busy, idle hands being the devil's workshop, I guess.

Being a curious sort, I logged on this morning to discover Ovide. There is a beautiful picture on the home page of Manchester's skyline with a terrific view of the Presidential Range in  southeast Manchester. Immediately I ran to the kitchen window, since it appeared that the White Mountains must have moved magically into my backyard overnight! How convenient if Cannon now was only minutes from my backdoor!  My  house might now be ski on/ski off!!

It was quite disappointing just to see the picnic table.

Kathy Sullivan 2 :: Discover....Ovide?
However, I still highly recommend that everyone take a trip to discover Ovide's World. Just as the picture of Manchester, with the
White Mountains in its southeasterly Quandrant, are unreal, so too is the rest of Ovide's World.

In Ovide's World,

we see Democrats in control of both the White House and Congress, using the current economic crisis as an excuse for massive pork barrel spending thinly disguised as stimulus, government orchestrated takeovers and taxpayer funded bailouts of private corporations, and an effort to nationalize our country's healthcare system.

Ovide ignores the reality that the economy was the brink of collapse and depression. He also propogates the flasehood about an effort to nationalize the healthcare system, but this is Ovide's World we are discovering, not the real world.

So, please, join me in this discovery of Ovide's World.  As the exploration continues, let's see how many flights of fancy we can find!
http://www.discoverovide.com/

UPDATE: I just got in from an appointment, and went to check on how the vote was going on Ovide's web site. To my amazement - THE PICTURE HAS BEEN CHANGED!!! Oh, my, God.  Now that is funny!!!  The Presidential Range is back in its rightful place, I guess. Replaced by a lovely picture of Manchester from the Merrimack River above the Amoskeag Falls.  Geographically correct, in all its glory!

He is trying to bury us! (4.00 / 1)
The peak appears to be our neighborhood in south Manchester!

Doing my best to elect NH Democrats since 1968 and getting better at it every year!

I Voted! (4.00 / 3)
I just visited Ovide's WEBSITE and voted that I think President Obama's health care initiative will help the American people!  Thanks for asking, Ovide.

I also noticed he endorsed lots of our Democrats in Concord AND in Washington.  He said, "Now, more than ever, New Hampshire needs leaders in Washington who have the strength to do the right thing, not simply the easy or popular thing.  Someone to represent the people, not the elite.  Someone who looks forward to help solve our problems, not backwards to fight yesterday's battles; Someone who best reflects our state's finest traditions of personal responsibility, frugality and common sense; someone who understands the value and benefit of low taxes, low spending and limited government; and someone with the strength of character to oppose the special interests, and take the fight for New Hampshire values to Washington."

I can think of lots of Democrats who fit that billing, including "low taxes" -- those of us who want to lower our property taxes and have those who can afford to pay (like Ovide) share in the cost of providing those needed services government provides.

I Voted Too!! (0.00 / 0)
We should all vote!

I voted too but I'm not saying how. (0.00 / 0)
The gap is narrowing! Will Ovide change his mind when he learns that the people want real health care reform? About as likely as a mountain on Cilley Rd.

Stay tuned.

"But, in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope." Si se puede. Yes we can.

I voted yes (4.00 / 1)
I also voted yes :-)

Just for fun, (0.00 / 0)
Take a moment to go vote "yes" in his poll on whether you think Obama's healthcare plan will increase the quality of care.  It's currently sixty something to twenty something votes.

I was hoping they were there... (4.00 / 2)
think of what that would have done to our property values. LOL. :)

Think of what... (4.00 / 3)
Frank Guinta has done to our property values in Manchester - a school district with about 100 fewer teachers than last year. A mayor who can run around attacking reform of health care, but who can't be bothered to call for health care for a guy with a broken leg.

LOL :) - if it wasn't so sad.

You know... (0.00 / 0)
you don't always have to try to make a political point. It is pretty safe to say that everyone on this site has made up there mind who they are voting for either way. I was just going for the joke line since you me and Ray all live in Ward 8. Btw...have you ever thought about just how ironic that is? Smile Kathy... as my mother used say it takes less effort.

AND.... (0.00 / 0)
I want to point out I was in Ward 8 first...so y'all followed me!

Feel the Love, Mike! (4.00 / 3)
It's there.  It's SO there.

you don't always have to try to make a political point.

On Blue Hampshire?  Why would anyone try to make a political point here?

Hi Mike... (4.00 / 1)
...good to see you're still alive and active!  I thought the mountains were a funny touch.  Reminds me of a picture I saw once of Portsmouth's skyline with the Isles Of Shoals just off our coast -- looked like canoe could get there in 10 minutes.  If you looked closely enough it looked like France was in the background too!

[ Parent ]
Artistic license or faux geography (4.00 / 2)
It would have been acceptable artistic license if the mountains had been to the north, sort of a from the cities in the south to the mountains in the north thing, but putting the mountains in south Manchester was just - wrong.

Political Orientation (4.00 / 4)
It perhaps tells us more about Ovide's political orientation, or lack thereof, than his geographic confusion.  If one has no compass and can't tell direction, how can he possibly lead others without getting us all lost?

or under it with the rest of us?

...I wonder how much the "view" tax would be?

Ovide Has Retruned The Mountains (4.00 / 1)
See update to diary above:

Ovide has removed the mountains from the Manchester.  Guess they can't take a little ribbing!

And the poll has closed. (4.00 / 1)
Guess they wanted to quit when their minions were done loading the results from multiple IPs. They were capturing IPs, BTW.

Hopefully... (4.00 / 1)
They'll fix the typos. Not to be the grammar police, as we all make spelling/grammatical mistakes when blogging, but the web site for a United States Senate candidate from NH should be grammatically perfect, even if totally wrong on the issues. I don't want people to think we are a bunch of rubes here.

Ovide never returned my phone call (4.00 / 1)
Lamontagne made a comment at a recent GOP event in Dover to the effect that healthcare should be handled at a state level.  I don't 100% agree with that, but I do think that the existing federal law (unconstitutionally) makes it virtually impossible for states to carry out menaingful healthcare reform.  (The specific law is ERISA, which regulates employers who self-insure.)

I phoned him at the only number I could find for him: his office phone at the law form he co-owns.  I identified myself as a state rep and said I was interested in doing something about ERISA.  He has not called back.  But that's OK.

I will mention Barney Frank and Ovide Lamontagne in the same blog posting by mentioning something he said at the "Dining Room Table" town hall in Dartmouth, Massachusetts.  Teabaggers demanded to know why HB3200 does nothing about tort reform and nothing about allowing insurers to sell plans across state lines.  Frank rather sensibly pointed out that tort law and licensing insurers have been considered for a long time to be state functions, not federal.

yo, Ovide (4.00 / 3)
keep your paws off our mountains. Contrary to what you may believe, Manchester doesn't include the north country.

NMCI at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard... (0.00 / 0)
... seems to be keeping me from discovering Ovide. All I'm discovering is a blank page and a browser hang.
